Hello there!

I have decided to open a collaborative website (http://www.3dwillneverbethesame.com) to celebrate and commemorate our dedication to the software currently known as Autodesk Softimage, with your help eventually incorporating all kinds of user stories and statements, galleries and the like. This is not about the company (or its predecessors) that produces the software and/or its policies concerning the product, this is primarily about the software itself and the great talent working with it.

If you like to contribute, here are some suggestions:

If you like to share "Your Story" with us in text form or in a short video message, these bullet points might give some ideas:

• - tell us who you are, where you live and when you started working in 3D business
  - when did you came in contact with SOFTIMAGE?
  - how where these first experiences?
  - did you get specialized in a certain area?
  - what do you like most about SOFTIMAGE?
  - give us some links to projects you were working on

Please give us a photograph of yourself, it´s always nice to see the human behind it all. ;)

For a short statement, just say what you like most about SOFTIMAGE and why. Please provide your name, your position and a photograph of you. You might also send this as a short video message.

For sending in video messages, please provide us the link to video either on vimeo or youtube. If you don´t have an account, just provide the download link to the video file (h264, mp4, mov, wmv) and we will host it.

Keep in mind this is a website dedicated to the software SOFTIMAGE, not the company that produces the software. This is not intended as a place to vent frustrations about the latter. Please keep it positive!

this is a great idea!

Softimage/XSI (I've been using it for over a decade) completely changed the way I work. I am a huge Soft' evangelist and continue to spread the good word.

I'll try to put together a coherent story and send it over...

nice idea, have been using softimage3D since version 3.51 (on NT) and still using latest Softimage2014 in production, would love to contribute.

heres a a nostalgic video I found on youtube of an old school character animation tutorial (originally on vhs)



made by a real talented guy who was on the softimage mailing list before I joined back then and also one of the few left (using Softimage and recent active on the list that is!) and can still be found supporting character animation using softimage here

Holy shit that's Dave Gallagher?!? He looks so much different now...

I will make a video this weekend... and it will be awesome.

This is a great idea! Like Greg, I'll make a short video and a description to go with it. Indeed, 3D will never be the same. :/

Thanks for sharing this McNistor ... I remember when I used to enter Softimage.com 1x a day at the least to see news, etc, etc.

Man ... that picture brought me so nice memories that I've decided to keep in Softimage until it doesn't work anymore. It was way powerful back than and it's still now.

Back in 2004 when i switched from Maya to XSI

XSI 4 also came with an AMAZING training series, best unboxing experience ever!

Still have that box. That magnetic lid on the box was so cool. And that white/red really stood out on the desk

Will contribute in a few days, still recovering from a 3-day Maya gig LOL!!
