Post by owei » 03 Feb 2010, 15:46

Hi there..!

Just wanted to inform you, that emFluid3 is released ;)

Here you can see some short demos&previews on its new features:

Also have a look on the tutorials, Eric uploaded to vimeo:

http://www.vimeo.com/mootzoid

Product page:

http://www.mootzoid.com/html/XsiCorner/emFluid3.html

...some of the new features are:

- fuel emission
- heat emission
- density emission
- oxygen emission
- vorticity

..this can be used for burning down or blowing up what ever you like...stay tuned for more detail..!

..Eric also completely renewed parts of the fluid-solver to give a better scalability to your simulation. It´s great fun to play with it..!

cheers,
oliver

;) thank you Oliver.

I forgot to mention before, but this is of course an AMAZING work by Eric... and you too, because there's more to a good feature than just programming it.

Thank you for letting us know

Awesome work Eric. emFluid and emRPC are both must have compounds!

This is absolutely right!
Oliver has been the initiator of the emFluid 1.0 project, of emFluid2 and of emFluid3! Honest, without his constant support this plug-in and many of its cool little features and ideas wouldn't exist.
=> Thanks, man :)

@mootzoid
..my friend, it always was a pleasure to me! So let´s hope, that hours of talking :)] and brainstorming combined your amazing programming skills ( :-B ) and patients will pay off :D

By the way, I threw together a short tutorial about emFluid3 ;)

Hello.
Just wonder if I can remove that randomness of the simulation of emFluid?
I mean that every playback the simulations are different. Is there any seed value to make them the same?
Thank You

Hello Victorcg,

emFluid3 produces the same result at each playback as long as the fluid buffer is resetted at the beginning. This is done at frame 1 (and 2).

My guess would be that your scene doesn't start at frame 1. You can set the emFluid3 start frame (that is the frame at which the fluid buffer is set to zero) by entering the main compound and then modifying the "Simulation Start Frame". Take a look at the picture I attached to this post, it should be clear what I mean. If your scene starts at let's say frame 1000 then set the "Simulation Start Frame" in the main emFluid3 compound to 1000+2 = 1002.

Some idiot (hm, I guess that is me) must have forgotten to expose this quite important parameter. My fault, sorry about that :-

Cheers!
Eric

Hi,

With a little testing in SI2011, there seems to be something funky going on with emFluid3. The fluid effect won't fill the whole fluid box but only a small portion of it. It could just be me (setting it up wrong) but I think I got all the settings right... Anyway, I've used it in production with SI2010 and the behaviour was quite different. I'll try to upload a screenshot soon to make the matter more clear.

Yes, please show me a screenshot!
New Softimage|XSI versions sometimes have little changes that affect plugins that were compile before the new release.

PS: or even better: send me a scene file

Awww... I propably just forgot to connect the simulate node. How amateur of me :ymblushing:

And of course I'd blame it on the new kid (2011) and not on myself :p

Hello, i was trying out emfluid demo on softimage 2011 but i cant make it work :D
i'm not that deep into ice or emfluid but it seems like it doesnt take into account the Implicit Box and particles just run outside, plus the simulation seems not affected by emfluid, but just normal simulation..i guess i'm doing something wrong or is not compatible with Softimage 2011 x64bit?

Thanks a lot

i uploaded the scene in case you want to take a look
