I can't agree more with Hirazi. Having plenty of experience in this realm, you need a large group of people to maintain it. Also keep the custom plug-in use to a minimum to ensure you can upgrade wordpress with little to no issues to keep security and stability intact.
Good luck!
Thanks for the advice, will be recruiting some collaborators soon. Let me know if you are interested!
one note: it's not a "making off", it's "making-of"
Thanks for this, any other mistakes just let me know. There will be more ;)
You guys are my heros of Summer 2013!
Wow thanks, but we really haven't done much.
It's just a wordpress running a cool customizable, mobile ready (anyone notice that?) theme. I am not a webdesigner so for me this is all about the content.. and that's where you come in ;)
This looks great, just signed up.
Thanks to all responsible, this is the kind of site to direct producers and clients to when they get that glassy look in their eyes after I mention I use Softimage, not Maya.
AND YOU GOT IT!

Thanks everyone the response has been great, about 30 videos posted today by users ;)

I haven't registered yet (publicly available real name?), so this might be implemented for members only, but it might be wise to add a "report" button to each video. As you encourage user content, some of it might be inappropriate/unwanted and its best getting help from your users "hunting" these kind of videos down.

belated edit & personal aside: Funny how the Mailing list responds to this.
Some of the comments make you feel as if the si-community never even really existed/mattered.

Awesome news! Great job Cris and Cesar. I look forward to contributing as much as I can. :)

Edit: @Cris - I noticed that there is no gallery section for "Games" made with Softimage. That could be a great addition given the market.

Congrats for the site, well done and instant bookmark obviously!

With the amount of videos coming out sth like this is really needed.

My suggestion is to have recent posts as thumbnails somewhere near the top to get the most possible movement on the front page :)

ps. yay no "GUESS WHAT..." nag with the vimeo HDs!

Nah, nonsense! The si-community is *very* well established, Hirazi, no worries ;)

The great response to softimage.tv is easily explained:
Some dudes (Cris & Cesar) brought a cool new site to our little XSI community.
That's just cool and people are happy!

PS: the si-community.com is mentioned in every SI - related document, even in the highly official Autodesk Softimage Online Documentation.

This is a good idea, but I know very little about games myself. Can you tell me some games done with softimage? I can only think of half life 2!

Yes otherwise it would be a big mess!

It would be nice if Softimage users could produce more tutorials too. The Softimage youtube channel is shamefull. Just a few tutorials and video when you compare with 3ds Max and Maya.

As for games, doesn't all major Square games are made in Softimage?

Hi Chris,

The Metal Gear series is a big name, but it is not just PC and Console titles where games exist. Mobile is a huge industry too. Our game Blaster X HD https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blaster ... 51024?mt=8 was all Softimage. Since people can post about their own projects this will leave the door open a lot. Not having a category at all for games, you are loosing a very big sector and contributors. I would think that there are more games being made with Softimage than their are music videos, which that has a category. My opinion, it is always best to leave the door open to an industry, especially games being the most-profitable in all of entertainment, than to not.
