Learn to Animate in Softimage

Post by scrubjay » 19 Jan 2013, 23:21

Because of the lack of resources to learn Softimage I have been working on a series of high quality videos that will let anyone quickly get up to speed on the software:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... m8qGLaPsh2

Is a link to the playlist. Every video is 1920x1080x30 fps, and features a full resolution Softimage interface. We also include an image of my mouse and keyboard, both of which show what keyboard combinations and mouse chords I am using WHILE I do it. This is to address the problems we have seen in other video tutorials. The idea is that if you have an HD monitor as a second monitor, you can put up our videos and follow along. You can start, stop rewind etc.

The videos cover a 3d animation 1 course, and they could be used by an instructor who wishes to learn how to integrate the program into their courses, an experienced 3d animator who wants to learn about Softimage or anyone who knows nothing about 3d and wants to learn from scratch.

This is the most recent video, covering inverse kinematics and enveloping. I am going to be adding new videos as the next semester starts.

Wow, nice! I don't do a lot of animation (mostly stills) so some nice instruction in this area is very welcome. Thanks!
