Hey guys,

I am happy to announce the release of the new emFlock2 (version 2.0).

Some Features:
  • Multithreaded neighboring and flocking.
  • Set of compounds for speed and orientation control without flipping.
  • Set of compounds to make flocks fly along specific paths and morph into specific shapes.
  • Complex generation of flight paths using nearly any desired input in any desired combination (point clouds, polygon meshes, curves, etc.).
  • New neighboring compound.

Here's the teaser video called "Morphology" that I made for the occasion:

Take care,

I have to agree, your marketing videos are amazing - always of the highest quality! To be honest, I am surprised AD hasn't bought you yet. Great work!

I also liked the audio for the video as well. It was made perfectly and tied in nicely. One impressive part that I liked was when the audio transitioned to a heavy beat that mimicked the T-Rex walking - you rarely see marketing videos do that, which greatly impacted the video quality - top notch!

My brother Karsten will be happy to hear that !

Even though he was (and still is) currently involved in a bigger full-time cg project he did find a little time to make that music specially for the animation.

    Cheers,

Thanks ! But believe, there are collisions ;) I guess one could say that the macro-behavior (= the whole point cloud) is rather good but the micro-behavior (= each particle) is not a 100% accurate. This is not a bug or something, it has to due with the flocking math and algorithms. The flocking (and flying) has nothing to do with any of those physics solvers (rigid bodies, Lagoa, etc.).

BTW: flocking was first implemented by Craig Reynolds in 1986.

    Hi Eric,

I found this on cgchannel this morning, and posted it on the mailinglist ;)

It's awesome! I had a quick look at the video tuts on your site, and it looks very straight forward to setup.

Thanks for adding new stuff all the time. Stuff like this reminds me I'm still using the right 3D app :D

    rob

p.s. for some odd reason the music remionded me of "Modern Talking". Hope that doesn't offend your brother in any way... :-??
