Through these forums Ive come to the realization that often people will diminish Maya to lesser software just to feel better that they are using Softimage.gaboraa wrote:So we all would expect from Softimage that it shouldn't be a crap like Maya;)Hirazi Blue wrote:I wouldn't worry about that too much, most of us know full well what to realistically expect of Softimage.Bellsey wrote:Because no matter how useful people think it may be, it can set an unrealistic expectation.
It's a common natural human response, but maya IS better...at least now. No offense plz

There is no better software, its all relative and my comment was just arbitrary;)nuverian wrote:Through these forums Ive come to the realization that often people will diminish Maya to lesser software just to feel better that they are using Softimage./quote]

Re: 2014 WISH LIST
Maya is more popular, what does it really matter, Softimage/Maya if you use Softimage, just say you use Maya, unless the other party brings up Softimage then confess, you use Softimage ?
Is this a real node, create a channel from a light ? It's under the 2014 Wish List ? If it is, I can't think of any uses at the moment for this ?

Interface functionalities:
-Netview should be able to read .mht files and all files that a browser opens, like video or image.
-Icetree icon instead of appear in middle of ice tree screen should appear at right side.
-Open file ppg should have a drop down list of recent directories

Re: 2014 WISH LIST
Sculpting and retopo tools similar to 3d coat
Performance up like mentioned (remember when the gigapolygon core was released? a jump like that)
Reinstate the Foundation version, luckily I have a student license otherwise I'd be stuck with Mod Tool 7.5
More unwrapping tools, mainly the ones like Roadkill UV uses

Re: 2014 WISH LIST
1) 2014 to come with optimised 3D Drivers specifically aimed at running Softimage on higher end cards.
2) Much bigger focus on correcting / polishing what features we currently have we have as opposed to adding new.
3) Better billing on the autodesks websites, AREA, University and the Main site.
4) Allow Soft to start from an application not a batch file. Something I can pin to things in Lab Setups
5) And just because its Christmas, a Mac OSX version would be great.
