The hotfix3 was repackaged as a service pack (after I sent that email).
So if you have 2011 SP2 or 2011.5 SP1, then you have the "hot fix" that I mentioned then.

Thanks

Is there a Maya Entertainment Creation Suite including Softimage 2011 AP SP1? Or did Autodesk just forget about this. I can´t find in in my subscriptioncenter, which even doesn´t show me Softimage 2011 AP SP1 unless I switch the language to english...
And guess what, I can´t install the latter with my sreial for the suite. Thank you so much Autodesk...

Achim
Usually any serial number will work. I've installed with 123-12345678.
Was it the product key? That would be different, try 590D1.

Thanks
Well, thanks a lot. Never would´ve thought about using a fake serial myself....

Don´t bother, there is a bug that generates visible seams between uv islands in mud when sending objects from si there. already logged

Achim
Hi Achim, sorry I read it only now. No, It lag with mesh not so big and without importing from mudbox. I installed again to day for pure curiosity and all softimage 2012 is less reactive (wieport lag, apply a tool (bevel, inset polygon or any other tool) and must wait few second before see the effect in viewport). 2011 release work well with the some mesh.

Seems I'm the only one with this problem.

This is what I found.

I am using win7 x64 i7 dual six core.

Opening the Task Manager and looking at the performance when doing a render with 2012 does not use 100% of the CPU. It varies from 9% to 12% and stays at this very low CPU usage during the whole render.

The same scene in 2011.5 doing just the FG map took 5 sec. In 2012 using this low CPU (9%) took 30 sec.
Have you tried the 2012 service pack? What were the results with the same scene?

I have never seen Softimage not use 100% of the CPU cores during rendering, except in calculating Irradiance Particles.
Used to be that calculating IP final pass would only use one of my 4 cores, but even that's using 100% now.
And the same goes with FG/GI - 100% from start to finish.
I haven't done a whole lot of tests with rendering with SP1 so far since I have only one scene right now I'm trying to finish, but there is a HUGE difference in rendering with SP1.
In other words, now it works right and the delay at the beginning of the render is gone. :)

Good news!

Why only one core?

I f you are rendering with FG in append mode, CPU usage will drop massively in 2012. I´ve reported it some time ago, it´s a confirmed bug. Don´t know if they fixed it in SP1.

Maximus wrote:hm testing 2012 some more, i'm getting crashes quite always after i install some addon and then execute some drawing into viewport,
for example i've just installed an addon, went to create -> curve-> draw linear and as soon as i hit the first point on the viewport, xsi crashes.

i've found this behaviour happening quite a lot with 2012 after i install some addon, the win7 crash module report say this:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Fault Module Name: viewinteraction.dll

sometimes is listed "ntdll.dll" instead

it is apparently something related to view interaction..anyone happened to have this behaviour?

Hello Maximus! Do you solved your problem. I had the same : when i installed Exocotrex Momentum2 plugin installed Softimage 2012 is crashed :-o
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
XSI.EXE
Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll
what was your problem? #:-s
Thank you!
UPD :ymparty:
God bless Softimage web community! I solved problem:
You can try to delete (make a backup) user Preferences folder. It's in
C:\Users\user_name\Autodesk\Softimage 2012\Data\Preferences - delete this folder !
