mod tool 6.01 on windows 7
every time I try to install mod tool 6.01 on windows 7 I get a error saying the installer is corrupt now it worked fine when I had windows vista and I have tried redownloading it from mod db but it will not work
Re: mod tool 6.01 on windows 7
Try Mod Tool 7.5, which may be more compatible. You can also get it on ModDB or even on Steam (I think).
Re: mod tool 6.01 on windows 7
Did you try by installing it with the 'compatibility mode'?
I'm very surprised it still worked though, 6.01 is quite old and with all the changes in Win7 it might be 'on the edge' of the OS support.

That's really strange, I'm using Windows 10 and Mod Tool 6.01 installed fine. I also downloaded from ModDB, didn't use any compatibility settings unless Win10 did it automatically.
You should probably just use 7.5, the only thing I've found that 7.5 is missing is Model (EMDL) export, for some reason it's removed from 7.5.

I know before that the valve source tools didn't work quite right with 7.5 but there hasn't been any update or fix for that?
Maybe if the source code is out there for the addon it could be fixed by someone.

Hi
The valve source addon will only work with 32-bit XSI versions, and the SMD and VMF dlls were compiled with XSI SDK 6.0 which is why those plugins fail. The last 32-bit release was XSI 2013. I have recompiled the valve source addon with the XSI 2013 SDK. I was unable to port it to x64 due to the libraries used. This is a quick fix so please tell me if there are any issues. The addon was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 so if the plugins do not work download the require redistribute files for 2005 x86.
dowload from archive.org (update: recompiled HelperBoneOp.dll)

No credit needed, I've done zero edits apart from updating the XSI SDK used. Please check the previous post I have updated it.

but you where the one who fixed it so credit to valve and you what do you want to be known bye in the credits .txt that will come with it
Re: mod tool 6.01 on windows 7
The author description is the same as the original 'Softimage'. I don't feel like I've made enough changes to be credited. It's still just as buggy as it was with modtools.
Re: mod tool 6.01 on windows 7
Apologies to double post but I figured I would share a fix for valve addon 6.02. This will fix the issues using rig from guide option when using mod tool 7.5. Replace the VBS script located at within the Addons\ValveSource\Application\Plugins\ directory. Download here.
