Can the FX tree use multipass AOV from OpenEXR's, if so how?

From the title.. that's pretty much all I want to know. I tried compositing in the FX tree as it processes somewhat faster than Blender's Node Editor - but I use multipass layers in Open EXR's. I can't seem to access these layers from the file/s in the FX tree. Is there some kind of trick to it?

The big problem is that the Fx Tree was last updated a long time ago, I doubt it has any idea what multichannel exr files are.

Ah.. Bummer. It's a powerful /could have been/ tool...

Oh well, maybe I'll fusion the workflow with Blender when I feel Blender is crunching too much.

I hate to bring up the dreaded piece of software (although it isn't as bad as it's reputation, frankly), but IIRC the now freely available Autodesk Composite is more or less able to handle multi-channeled exr's (but that's a big IIRC admittedly).
