Fake dispersion within the object

Post by iamVFX » 02 Nov 2012, 12:17

Has anyone know any way to fake dispersion for a transparent refractive object on a compositing stage? Any links would be helpful!

No, not really make the refraction, but do tricks (if they exist at all) to make dispersion on an already refractive object with use of different passes, maybe. For example it could be based on a shift of different colored reflection/refraction passes with use of uv pass, or something like that... Oh well :D

http://www.mentis.ca/design/graphics/dispersion/

found this some time ago. but because you have to render the object 3 times i would go with the mib_glossi_refraction to render it directly.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you, Kzin :)
