si & maxwell, mix/blend two maps

Post by Grompf » 04 Nov 2013, 15:04

Hey all,

first post :)
I am working on Softimage + Maxwell atm and I have a hard time mixing 2 maps together. The only way that seems to work is to do it in ICE, save the result in a user data map or a weight map and use it in the material editor. There must be an easier way... right ? I could not get the 'toon mix' and 'mix 2 colors' nodes to work. Any suggestion ?

I know it works with 2 bsdf or even 2 layers but I want to use this for displacement. And I cannot have 2 displacement maps with weights.

As far as I know, Maxwell doesnt support any Mental Ray Node inside softimage. Maxwell has its own shader system and that is where you want to work.

Blending and Mixing in maxwell material editor is incredibly fast and intuitive, you might want to try it there.

Thank you for the clarification Maximus.

Maxwell doesn't support a lot of softimages nodes either, unfortunately.
