morphing moving sequences

Post by forton » 06 Jul 2016, 17:48

I'm trying to connect 2 aerial shots by morphing between them, but the fx-tree is crashing all the time.
Is there a workaround to avoid the crashing?
For the moment it crashes each time I go to a certain frame, there are no keyframes at that position, no idea whats happening...

I know fx-tree is an old beast, can someone point me to good software to morph 2 video's?

Thanks, Wim

Sometimes there may be a corrupt frame that crashes the FX tree. I have used it a lot on past projects. I had similar issue where there was a badly compressed frame, bad PNG or JPG, or even a missing frame that might crash the FX tree. Recompressing the vide file really helped - or working with image sequences.

You can do it with ICE.
If you wanted to work with moving Images you'd have to track both inputs (by hand or via tracking points (you could make this for it https://vimeo.com/155009080)) and it should work fine

If you want to do it with commercial software. the best I know of is Re:Flex by revisionfx. http://revisionfx.com/products/reflex/after-effects/ I use it in After effects but I think you can get it for other compositors. Its quite expensive though. If you have a low budget, I'd try ICE first as you can make it do the same thing.

Thanks!

That tracking idea is very interesting, I'm sure I'm going to use that somewhere someday.
I think it's a good idea to try in fabric, since there's a bitmap context, just wish they had some more options to control things like with animationcurves etc.

For the moment I don't have time to make up my own tool, we're in the middle of a production.
The morphing plugin is quite expensive indeed, imho it's tech from the 1980's (don't mean it's not worth it, probably much more advanced than the other toy-ish programs on the market today).
