Hi mirko, I'm not so proficient with kristinka, but I do have develloped a custom grooming and simulation framework in ICE
based on polygonal modeling

here is a link to a video http://benmalartre.free.fr/pages/demos.php?id=0&cat=1

kind regards

ben

Looks interesting. Would you be willing and able to share the system? :-\

wow!
your works are awesome, regarding hair polygon grooming it's base on ice or c++ hard code, can you share a bit of info ..?

Hey thanks!
It's a work in progress, but it's been used in production.
It's all done in ICE..

The production version develloped at Ellipsanime was using custom C++ nodes but I managed to get rid of them
Now it's only based on factory nodes

I have one ICETree on the Polymesh, one Guide Point Cloud and one Render Point Cloud

I simulate the Polymesh with ICE syflex for animation, not really accurate but really stable and fast...

I will be able to share the system, I have to find time to clean it a bit and package it properly...
Also I have to make a short documentation on how to use it...

Here is a quick XSI 2013 scene if you want to take a look at it without any comments/explanation

Just got around looking at your example scene and I was hoping you could post some more usage info,
as I can't even seem to get the sample scene to render properly.

edit: After hiding the Hair_Emitter, the Hair_Mesh and the Hair_Guide and after applying a Hair shader on the Hair_Render object this is the result I get:
furax.jpg
The diagnostics bombard me with the following error

Code: Select all

error 051071: broke suspected infinite trace recursion

hello,
adjusting the size of the particle in the render point cloud get rid of the error
I updated the scene on the server with hair shader and crappy light rig
It's not really better but there is no more error
