GPU rendering help offered

Post by mirkoj » 27 Sep 2015, 11:49

Hey guys,

I see a lot of people moving to GPU rendering after seeing all the speed up and other benefits compared to CPU rendering.
Also there is still lack of nice GPU render farms out there that can help out at that time when there is not enough minutes in the hour 'till the deadline, and investing in full GPU render node, bunch of cards and everything is a bit expensive ofc

I was lucky enough with some nice projects to build up rather fine GPU farm of my own, and I would like to offer help to anyone that needs some extra muscle in their GPU renderings.
If you have 1 or 2 cards and hundreds frames waiting in line it can take awhile to get them then.
My GPUs are sitting idle from time to time, in between renderings, and I would be happy to offer some GPU help to anyone that could need it. Making short film and need some rendering, or just under pressure with some project.. no problem.

I'm not trying to be render farm so there is no GUI there is no prices nor anything. Just wanna offer some help to fellow freelances and even small teams that can't invest a lot into all the new hardware right now, and still have rendering as slowing point. So if you need help we can probably get some on the way.

Right now these are comps ready for rendering:
1. 5960X, 64GB RAM, 4x Titan X
2. 5930K, 64GB RAM, 4x Titan
3. 3930K, 64GB RAM, 4x 970

Also there is ton of storage on raid 10 and all connected to optic fiber 200/100 so no problem in transferring all those files as well
Feel free to email to mirkoj.animator@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Again to point out that I'm not really a render farm and can offer a bit of help but if you need some real muscles there is an redshift certified render farm available and probably bunch of octane and others as well. This is just an helping hand to fellow freelancers out there.

All the best!
Mirko

Hello people,

Just to add a bit of updates.
It's bin a nice year in 2016.
GPUOven is growing a bit, rendered ton of frames, unfortunately most of projects are under NDA so cannot really share most of them.
But anyway glad to help with so many great projects, met a lot of new people and looking forward to keep up growing and providing even more help.
At the moment farm is:

- Asus rampage V extreme, 5960X, 64GB RAM, 4x TitanX
- Asus rampage V extreme, 5930K, 64GB RAM, 3x 1070, 1x 970
- ASRock x99 ws, 5930K@, 64GB RAM, 4x Titan
- Asus p9x79-e ws, 3930K. 64GB RAM, 4x 970

Planing to upgrade soon to at least two render nodes, additional 8 more GPUs, but I guess that depends on farm utilisation :)

And again to call, who ever need some GPU help, personal projects, short movies or you have a short deadline and even no budget, no worries, just call and we will figure out something.
Looking forward to set new record in frames rendered.

Happy rendering and GPU baking!

Thnx Mirkoj offer, sounds too good to be true! :D

So you intent to render even tests scenes? Lets say that i want to check the reflections on a 360 of a device.
I get that at some point for something more final it should be a payed service.
But can we rly contact you for such unimportant reasons? I hessitate a litel :)

Hahahah even test scenes no worries at all,
Don't hesitate at all.

As I mentioned, from time to time farm is sitting and better to use it to help out anyone that needs it.
True, from time to time if someone does have nice big project they do donate a bit $ to cover some electricity and cold beer while rendering but it is not mandatory at all. It kinda all levels out, one project that someone planed to pay ton of money to render farm for example, instead they send fragment of that here to help ou with power bill and all, and that one donation can be enough for like month worth rendering so everyone else that don't have budget or working on tests or personal projects still can use GPUs and I'm not going into financial debt for power :)
Plus all rendering now helps m eat heating up my place so I save some power for that as well hahahha

So no worries what ever you need don't hesitate at all :) Why would you spend week witing for that ttest if it can be much much faster :)

Ofc if someone does have some deadline and project I try ti balance load and push those guys a bit ahead of schedule when they have fire under feet. But even with that it will probably be done faster then using 1 comps and 1 or 2 GPUs.

made a small upgrade to farm:

- Asus rampage V extreme, 5960X, 64GB RAM, 4x TitanX
- Asus rampage V extreme, 5930K, 64GB RAM, 4x 1070
- ASRock x99 ws, 5930K@, 64GB RAM, 4x 1070
- Asus p9x79-e ws, 3930K. 64GB RAM, 4x Titan

Sold all older 970 and replaced with 1070 cards.
Planing soon to add at least 2 more render nodes, 4 GPUs each.
Also upgraded net speed to 400/200 optic fiber as well

Farm is pretty busy lately but who ever needs some extra hand check in to see if we can squeeze some render time for you guys as well :)
Also added Houdini support too, and I know for fact that a lot of us slowly moving there too so.. good to have that covered as well :)

Cheers and happy rendering!

Two more render nodes added.

Happy rendering :)

- MSI X99A XPower gaming ti, 6850K, 64GB RAM, 4x 1070
- Asus maximus IV hero. 4770k, 32GB RAM, 2x Titan

And upgraded to Deadline 10 render manager as well.
Happy rendering!

That's quite a setup!

I saw a few of your posts around, but if not already done, you should also list youself in renderfarm listings, as this much GPU resources more than qualifies as a renderfarm.

Forgot to ask you on the RS forums Mirko, what's the render time of the RS benchmark scene on your 4x 1080 Ti setup vs the 4x 1070? My expectations are that it's closer than many would expect, but the extra VRAM on the 1080 Ti is worth far more than 3Gb once greedy old Windows has stolen it's pound of flesh (even from the headless GPU's), comparatively speaking that is of course.

Here are banchmarks:

4x1080ti: 3min 6sec
4x1070: 4min 22sec

It really depends from scene to scene, this is benchmark but in standard rendering difference can be much lower.
Final point is that 1070 is great GPU with best perf/price ratio. If you scenes are fitting nicely in its VRAM then it doesn't make too much sense to go over to 1080ti.
Unless you are constantly hitting VRAM issues and out of the core rendering.
But at the end there is always GPUOven to help out ;)

Thanks for the render times. And don't worry I'll always keep GPU Oven in mind. ;)

I recommended some Houdini folk your way the other week but they told me you don't support Houdini right now. Ready made market, as very few Cloud GPU vendors support Houdini (as the
folk I recommended your way found out, much to their frustration).
