Yes, Le Gouffre is simply brilliant. I have been watching them in CGSociety's IP Club for some time now; it is great to see the final piece - amazing!

incredible work, as usual...

Did they use krinstinka hair system ?

would be curious to know if they use faceRobot or something else to animate the face too.

Yet another virtual great ape. Personally I am not all that impressed.
I do however feel genuinely sorry for that one chimp in Florida who has been training all his life
to do skydiving for a commercial and now has been abruptly put out of work…

The end result looks like this, BTW

A pretty neet making-of

I created semiautomatic landscaping system for this which uses national land survey data.
you can get Heightmaps and matching IR/photo data tiles from their database.(6km x 6km tiles) Those IR maps were then processed to extract RGB mask of forest areas, water areas and flat areas. Then some ICE scattering and shader building using those rgb maps as a good starting point.
Other responsibilities were some volumetric stuff, modeling the airplane and lighting/rendering almost all of the ~60 shots.
Softimage, Arnold and Mental Ray was used.

Hi Guys,

This TVC we did at Not to Scale Amsterdam last month. It's part of a wider campaign in several countries, including print.
There's several versions with/without tagons and such, but this is the 10" powerslide version:

3D team: Pierre Ducos, Bertrant Bey (also the directors), Maarten Heinstra, myself, Laurence Dodd, Andi Farhall, Arantxa Claudio.

Compositors: Jos Wabeke, Meip Wijn

Really fun job to work on, and great team. Of course all done in Softimage, rendered in Arnold, comped in Nuke.

Enjoy!
