It was already posted here, but ... I've just saw these three films at AnimaMundi SP yesterday. Oh boy ... so nice to see great work done on our great Softimage on the big screen.

Every time I look at this thread I go through the 5 stages of grief all over again.

Wonderful stuff.

Dead software still floating ...

OFF TOPIC (forgive me):
Please, everybody. Stop with this "dead software" thing.. is depressing.
I know it's an ironic message sent to the higher spheres or whoever and it's clear that Sotimage is great and it will remain damn over the others for some other years from now. Guys made impressive things with older versions of Softimage where other softwares still don't come close...

You will surely see it disappearing slowly from the big studios, for obvious commercial reasons, but as a tool to do everything it remains unbeatable, sure with it's lows here and there (less than the others, though) until a new guy appears on the scene with the same overall power.
Otherwise all the other softwares are just boring, annoying, cold with no real intellect in the overall achitecture, just full with tools to say "I have this". Nothing more.

If Ferrari stops making cars it doesn't mean the car suddenly becomes slow or bad or worthless, and the others faster. No matter what a Luc-Eric or other bashers say.
Feel free to use a new and alive Fiat 500...

Not everybody uses new versions of the software and in big studios they have their pipeline built on very old versions of Maya, or others, that learning the new version is almost useless, since they say " ah.. you know Maya 2020?.. well. now learn this, it's Maya 4 powered by us " and you cannot recognize it as Maya. Probably in some cases there are some Softimage like tools, too.

Softimage is kept alive by the people who use it and enjoy it.

Le Gouffre is finally online. Beautiful short I had the chance of seeing last year at AnimaMundi SP. Also a nice making-of of the process.

That indeed is one amazing short, where everything (visuals/story/pacing etc) goes wonderfully well together.
Thanks for posting this.
