The Art Style of Guilty Gear Xrd

A nice presentation at GDC 2015 using Softimage to say the least. The reply to one of the questions at the end says a lot about the strength and stability of our favorite 3DC, thanks to the Non linear , non destructive workflow.
... my other question is weather there are some key features in XSI that you could only do in XSI with this game ?

I wouldn't want to do it in any other software, that is simply because you can just go back to any state, and continue fiddling with the model without redoing the skins, or redoing the UVs... it just keeps there and you can keep working on it to the last minute...

The Embassy latest work on Disney Playmation

https://vimeo.com/groups/vfx/videos/131935624

Sadly this was the Embassy last full project in Softimage and Arnold. They have moved over to a mixed alembic pipeline of Maya for animation and any manual scene construction and Houdini/Arnold/Mantra for everything else.

Client: LEXUS
Agency: TEAM ONE ADVERTISING
Director: POLYNOID
Production: BLACKLIST
Animation: WOODBLOCK http://www.woodblock.tv

Polynoid in Berlin: "The brief we got from Team One was about telling the story of a generic car that's being injected with a blue liquid by robots which then changes the DNA of the car, transforming it into a racing car from the inside. "First of all, kudos to Team One for pushing through such a bold concept. From a creative point of view it was one of those briefs we've always been waiting for.

"The challenge for us then was developing and refining the story in a way that would work as a film and finding a concept for the transformations to fit the concept, ideally without resembling something we've seen before in this kind of commercial. "The main technical challenges were about handling the CAD data for the car, especially when it came to building the effects on top." Schedule: eight weeks. For Team One Advertising Group creative director: Jason Stinsmuehlen Copywriter: Josh Paialii Art director: Davide Vismara Executive producer: Sam Walsh Associate producer: Reilly Park Director: Polynoid For Blacklist Executive producer: Andrew Linsk Executive producer, managing director: Adina Sales Producer: Hilary Downes For Woodblock Producer: Lars Wagner Artists: Jan Bitzer, Csaba Letay, Fabian Pross, Tom Weber, Ilija Brunck, Marco Kowalik, Michael Heberlein, Sarah Eim, Thorsten Loeffler, Roman Kaelin, Ivan Vasiljevic, Dragan Miokovic, Eric Mootz, Carlos Vicetto, Felix Deimann, Falko Paeper Music & sound design: Joel Corelitz / Waveplant Toolkit Softimage, Arnold, Nuke

The short films, music videos and motion design you see on STASH, took a long time to produce. Show your appreciation to these incredible artists by "liking" them and sharing with your friends. Thanks!

Watched the whole short on BBC One last night (waiting for the Doctor Who Christmas Special, actually).
It's a brilliant short (and according to Sue Sauer's webblog, Softimage 2011 was used in its production).
;)
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Couple of (awesome) things worked-on by Jan Elsner (The Marmalade)

3D Rolex | Redshift Render

A small project to test the GPU-Renderer Redshift in Softimage. All rendered on a single GTX 970 in about 8min/frame. Compositing using AfterEffects.

Kelloggs | NutriGrain Edge DC

Kellogg's Nutrigrain Edge commercial by themarmalade.com from 2015.
First Shot full CG using Softimage, Zbrush, agisoft Photoscan and Arnold. My tasks: Photoscan, Shading, Rendering, Lookdevelopment.

"older" (2013) yet no less astonishingly amazing recently posted clip

Krueger | Espresto DC

A coffee commercial by themarmalade.com from 2013.
All product shots (machine, cap) are CGI. Done in Softimage, rendered with Arnold. My tasks: Animation, Shading, Rendering, Lookdevelopment.

The latest from Mr. Borgmann
(apparently still at the forefront of defining new styles... or pushing them further)

Mind Over Eye
Some logo intros I have designed and realized for Mind Over Eye

Client: Mind Over Eye
Role: concept, design, direction, animation, vfx, lighting, shading, compositing

the sound is only for layout purpose:
Jon hopkins - alarm call for rob da bank
Gangster squad OST - track 14

Also some interesting comments

Hope you don't mind asking but are you sticking with softimage or are you thinking in migrating? What are your thoughts regarding the future of the techniques you use with softimage?
Congrats really loved the look of this piece

Tim Borgmann
Thanks Vitor. I think I will have to migrate to another software on a long term view, but since a 3d software is a tool to create something, ideally to work creative with, it has to feel right in your hands in my opinion (like if you prefer a pencil or a brush for example). So it will take some time to find the right (next) tool.

Vitor Teixeira
I was asking that because there's a lot of people moving to houdini. I see myself in your thoughts and I agree with you. It's really a shame what happened to softimage. Once again congrats for this awsome intro. Cheers
