Re: C3P0 and R2D2
As you can see from your reference picture, the lower jaw/chin should probably a bit longer and pointier - though stilll round (very hard to explain in words) and the eyes should be still a bit closer together.

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
I was about to post this.. (see in yellow)
But it seems you beat me to it
In addition to what Hirazi said, there seems to need a bit of "cheekbones" or some heightened curve under and following the eyes from the eybrow to the nose
You know, you can also have a grid with your reference as a texture, and select and hide the back of the head, and then adjust proportions and features in front view while having your model in wireframe mode (grid in textured)
Or of course while having your ref as a rotoscope viewport background.
In eather case, you can also sometimes go in shaded mode, and hide/unhide back and forth repeatedly to more easily see the differences in shape etc..
Last point, it often seems like your model is lowres, not because theres missing model rez,
but just in case you didn't know, you can increment 1 subdiv step by tapping "+" (only on the num-keypad) without otherwise affecting your mesh.
Otherwise, pretty good job!

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
yeah, I have been using wire frame on as I model..
as for +1. I tried it on this and it lost too much detail. I have not subdivided yet. want to make sure all the main details in there before that happens.
I feel like I am all around it. all the major detail is there. just the shape that needs work.

very loosely starting the body... need good shots of the neck bolts and antenna to finish up the face.

neck bolts and antenna.. face still needs refining.
Re: C3P0 and R2D2
Coming along well it seems!
And concerning this ...
So 3 overlapped segments (overlapped on the hull, or the non-subd-ed mesh)
makes a perfectly sharp corner even once subd-ed.
And concerning this ...
Keep in mind that detail sharpness with subd's can be more precisely controlled with parallel segment closeness, as opposed to using creases for instance.as for +1. Re: C3P0 and R2D2
he looks a bit fat, and the bottom of the back might not be right....but I think it's getting there. IT'd be fun if someone could turn this into a full scale 3Dprinted costume.

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
someone printed the head using a 3D printer. Wow, I think it needs more polygons..
fast tracking things a bit, now that I have my own 3D printer coming. Here is an almost finished set of arms..
Re: C3P0 and R2D2
So it looks like they printed your unsubdivided head? did you get to send them your new subdivided one before they went along?
For you model, I think the chest needs to be a bit flatter (less bubbly, or less like Shwartzenegger ;] )
and that the detail going around the tummy could be more refined, more circle, more "flowing", or with less wobblyness.
(which I know is intricate work)

I tried to make the chest flatter...
and modified the detail on the bottom and started the hands.
The shorts and legs are going to be the toughest parts I think

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
Looks good.
Make sure to create a "rough sketch" of the general shape of the rest of the body first,
before you get caught in too much detail.
That way you'll have a good overview of where "all"of this is "going"
and can easily see what still needs attention.
