C3P0 and R2D2
A little side project before Big Blow Out fixups resume in January.
a few hours of messing with it, and no where near closeyet.

Could you perhaps show screenshots of a (shaded) wireframe in a "classic" front and side view?

You need to find better reference pictures to improve the modeling, especially side, front, back and/or top views are very usefull. The shine and quarter views of your reference picture hide details critical for modeling.
For example:

Good luck

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
here are some good reference pictures too

I think the most important part is getting the creased areas around the eyes right, once you add a reflection map then the rest might not be so critical.

they are... R2 is actually made by a star wars fan and the one being used in the movie
thanks for the images ;o)... they should help. I think the eyes are the toughest part..
Re: C3P0 and R2D2
That's not bad! Can you also post the wireframe to see the topology?
Cause you can make your model edges follow the features of the face, to reduce some smoothed triangulization that we can see under the eyes if you see what I mean.
Edit: As Hirazi also asked

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
also, stupid questino.. but how can you tell measurment in inches with softimage?
I know there are numbers next to the scale buttons etc.. but lets say the numbers read 2.4 would that be 2 foot 4 inches? 2.4 inches? how does it render out?

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
This might be a helpful reference when modeling (from BlenderArtists): look here.
As to the missing units in Softimage, there has been a lot of discussion about that over the years, but basically it's explained on this page of the user guide...

I use Scale To Fit plugin for measurements: http://www.si-community.com/community/v ... =29&t=2311Shredder565 wrote:also, stupid questino.. but how can you tell measurment in inches with softimage?

Re: C3P0 and R2D2
This is looking much better now IMHO.
Could you post some more detailed wireframes (especially of the front or the "half-side")?
The top-right picture is a hard to make out.
