Metro Station

Post by Diurno » 02 Apr 2013, 12:40

Hi all, i'm doing my first work using Maxwell Render and for that, i've decided to make a shot of a metro station, based on a photo reference i found online (probably the new york one).
Here, there's no much stuff at the moment, just a couple of modeled object and some basic lights, but i want to share my project and let you watch it as it grow up ^^

so far Maxwell seems very different from what i got used to, like Mental Ray. I mean, in Mental Ray i'd to set up tons of stuff just to get that kind of illumination; in Maxwell all i'd to do is to create the lights and launch the rendering. The strange thing is that beside the scale factol is set properly, those lights are only a 40w ones, cause bigger lights will wash out the entire scene...

How did you set the scale factor? And in what unit you modeled? Also Maxwell Camera have a giant role into rendering correctly.

the scale factor is set to 0,1 cause i modeled as 1 SI = 10cm.

Some objects textured. I'm trying to not use preset and create every texture from scratch (of course using images and stuff)

Update: now i need to model the interior of the wagon (this is the reason for the windows aren't glass yet ^^), tweak some materials and add some minor props to the scene.
