Something about humanoid amphibians and punk rocking mutants. Just fun to draw and animate. :-c

At first I though the colors were some kind of bug, but after watching your movies again, I think it's an unique color expression, a little poppish with strong colors, I like it. So I say keep it original with your colors!

What I don't like is that your characters colors keep changing between cuts. Are you using different materials for each cut? Make the characters with the best color combination you like and try to stick with it. You could use color codes to avoid mistakes.

But even if I like your colors, it seems that you confuse a little soft green with soft orange/pink in the skin. That may be a little confusing.

Yeah, I think the lighting conditions just need to be more obvious, that way any colored lights that may be in the urban scene would provide better distance separations. . . and so a darker green turtle would represent that he may be in the shadows over a turtle that might be in the background but is lit up by a different light source. That may have not been the intent but I think it would help out things perceptually speaking.

hey guys,

Different colors: I can never decide which colors I like best, so I keep on changing them. Keep in mind, this is only the animatic stage. The final animation won't look that much better, but if I ever get finished with the animatic stage, we'll try and clean things up, so things will look a little wonky.

Lights: Right now, each scene only has one light, i try to keep it at light basics, with no specular. And it's usually directed at the characters, not away, to the left, or right or behind, but right at them. I haven't messed too much with lighting.... I'm mostly still in learning the modeling and animation stage, even after 10 years of messing with various programs :).

It appears you are using a cel-shader for some things and a regular diffuse shader for others. Is the plan to convert everything to cel shaded after the animatic?

once I Decide what I like better, yeah :). The actual show colors are accurate, my toon color blind colors are best guess...
it seems to be split on who likes what on another board, so that hasn't helped either ;o)..

Scene 052. IT took 23 years, but the animation mistake in this scene is finally fixed. The original had done with Mike's mask! Take note animators at Nick to check mask colors!

And now for something totally different. Jim Lawson, Turtle artist has been posting fun doodlings on what the turtles would look like as aliens. This one design of the Shredder Assult Vehicle got my interested piqued, so I CGI-ed it. The first try 0n the right, second on the left!

One year ago this month, we started this crazy experiment, and have come full circle.... The first try in a 36 second rough scene on the left..

For some reason, the old technodrome model was 12 MB's and crashed. it just refused to open. So, I took the base parts from one I was able to open, and I'm going to redo the wheels tomorrow. Now it's back to 5MB's and opens fine. weird.

Start of scene 070

New Technodrome Wheels done. This time around I did all 9 seperate, rather than do one and duplicate it across. I think that's what messed it up the first time around. A few minor color changes as well.. hope it brings out the detail a bit better.

A few models are going to get re-done from scratch. The turtle Van is one of them. this one is going to be higher poly and have a fully tricked out interior. The interior is going to be tough to nail down, because it changed from episode to episode....

will have to choose the most common look and go with that as 'cannon'

trying to add more detail to the rough shots.... so far, one of the toughest yet. scene-088. less than a minute away from the first act break. trying to do all these shots in order so hopefully you can see the evolution or de-evolution of it over a years time so far.

new turtle van model, now with the start of an interior taking place.
