Re: MilanVasek wips
well, something little bit different than my usual stuff. after almost a year spent on Iceland, I decided to create something inspired by this amazing country...
I'm responsible only for the landscape. car is done by my friend Andrej Stefancik (you can check his models on http://andrejstefancik.blogspot.com/)
Here are some other tests. All stuff is scattered procedurally in ICE (I love ICE sooo much)
and models i'm using for a moss (more complex one has around 1.6m triangles and is used in the scene like 300 000 times)
and simple ICE tree I'm using for all things...

Hi!!
Wow, this looks just great! I like the warm lighting and the rich detail of the scene -what renderer did you use for it? I never dared to use MR on such huge amounts of instances ;)
best,
oliver

Re: MilanVasek wips
some progress here... still have to work on some details in foreground, road, materials of car etc... and probably more interesting lighting too
Re: MilanVasek wips
This looks mighty impressive!
Re: MilanVasek wips
tell render time for shots please
Re: MilanVasek wips
That's an impressive update from your first 'gray' renders
Is it all textured geo, or are there procedurals as well for texturing?
The ICE compounds, are those tweaked versions or clean setups?
And don't forget to post back to the sitoa list as well, including some more scene related info ;-)

This is all very nice Milan. You have captured the northern lighting and atmosphere of the arctic.
Arnold is very good with large amounts of scattered rocks, vegatation and displacement. You definately have the feel of natural chaos and variation in the landscape.
Now you need a wizard driving the car.

Re: MilanVasek wips
Thanks guys.
render time is still around 30 minutes at the office with proper workstation
most of the stuff is textured geometry, but i use color from pointclouds to add some variety... and rocks have some procedural displacement (several cell scalar and fractal scalar nodes) mixed with texture...
ICE is really amazing for scattering stuff. I made quite a few compounds, but they are mostly very simple tools, nothing fancy. but they allow me to control the look really well i will share them later because they can help some people i guess, at least people who haven't had time to look into ICE yet
hey Sam yeah, Arnold and ICE is amazing combination. i'm looking forward to go back to my usual stuff with wizards, witches etc. but this one will be just a car in the middle of nowhere without any driver

oh cool! you are great man, thanks for this!
Re: MilanVasek wips
Great render again!!
And kudos for sharing the compounds, will have fun dissecting them
