SiScatter 2.0Author: Julien Carmagnac
A scattering plugin from Julien Carmagnac, author of »Instance On Curve«. SiScatter offers a high level of control over the scatter placement:

This scatter tool distributes particles based on the »emTool _ Equal Distribution on Surface« Compound from Eric Mootz (thank you Eric !). I tweak this compound to work together with »Delete Particles Near to Boundaries Edges«, »remove closest geometry« and »remove inside filter« compounds.

This tool build an ICE Tree and create a custom property under the point cloud object to tweak all ICE parameters. So you can edit entirely your scattering without open your ICE Tree. List of avalaible modifiers: color by gradient color by shape id color by texture map filter by boundary edge filter by closest geo filter by fractal filter by random

Hi julca, that's great. That works well.
Now that Exact shape weight sum works great, is there any way you can still use Fractal shape selection ? Is that the equivalent to bunching ? It's an awesome option. It seems to work only when Exact shape weight sum is turned off.

No it can't work with the other option because it's a fractal selection based on 3d space.
So by definition it can't maintain exactly the number of shapes (between them) as the option "Exact Shape Weight Sum" do.

Let me clarify the "weight" parameter for each shape :
- With "Exact Shape Weight Sum" : define the exact number of associated shape (usefull when you have many shapes and you want a tiny number of each)
- Without "Exact Shape Weight Sum" (default) : define the influence/weight of shape during a random selection (more manageable with large number of particles)

Hope that's clear.
Friendly.

Ok, got it. I suppose clumping with "exact shape weight sum" might be achieved through weight painting or something similar, what do you think ?

Yes, in your case weight map might be a solution : define a zone for one scatter with one shape and set the number of particles you want.

Ok, that sounds great. Excuse my ignorance but what happens with avoiding collision. Is it something I'll have to rig up if I have multiple scatters ?

You can use the closest filter and add the other scatter object. It will delete current neighbors particles.
But it become more complicated when you want to maintain an exact number of particles by shape.

Interesting !
I shall go away and experiment. Thanks very much for fixing the weight sum and the info. Such a great tool and a lot of fun... :)

Salut Juju

Hi Leo !

From what I know, PPG layout are not saved with the recording of the scene.
That's why you can use the menu command : "ICE -> Create -> (siScatter categorie) Edit/Regenerate Property" with your property or point cloud selected.

Tell me if that work on 2015.

Sorry to answer you in English, but I do not want to let others in the dark ;) .

A plus !

Hello,

I updated first post with v1.3 :
- Correct a bug that reset density/number parameters when reopening the PPG property.

Sorry for the trouble and thank you Léo for your report !

Hello,

I updated first post with v1.4 :
- Add a new camera filter with individual control for each side.

Here a quick demo :

Tim, thank you for your suggestion ;) !

Cheers.

Thanks so much for updating your tool so quickly, Julien! The new camera filter seems to be working really well!
