Interactive Duplicate Compound

Post by ActionArt » 18 Apr 2011, 19:06

Here's an extremely simple compound but I find it useful. It duplicates geometry interactively with scale, rotation and translation, something that's oddly missing in the main modeling tools.

Feel free to improve in it ;)

PS - Hirazi - when I try to attach a compound as is I get this message: The extension xsicompound is not allowed. Could we allow some common SI extensions so we don't have to zip everything? Just saves a step in posting.

Moderator edit - I just checked, "xsicompound" as extension is possible, I will talk it over with owei,
when he gets back from his well-earned holiday... - HB

wonder what it'll take to get this kind of duplicate and transform it into a real duplicate array like 3ds max one, been missing it since forever:)

i've tried but is beyond my skill

Way beyond me too I'm afraid. I hope somebody takes the ICE tools and develops a really complete modeling package like replicating the graphite tools in Max and adding some architectural tools like LWCAD. I'd pay for that!

Yes, it is pretty damn awesome and I really miss it. I used to use it a lot. I wrote to the developer to see if he had any interest in porting it to SI but he said the market was too small.

Maybe if a bunch of us wrote to him requesting it he might re-consider :D

ICE should speed the development process a lot for him I would think.
