Dynamic duplicate object script ...how to go about it ?

Post by Manticor » 21 May 2014, 21:23

Hi
I'm wanting to create a duplicate along spline script in Python that updates in realtime for a colleague ( as well as for my own knowledge ) .We are still on xsi 7 and the duplicate tool isnt dynamic ...you put in your item count with a transform and it creates the duplicates when you press ok ....so a bit of a guess to get exact positioning .

The question is this ,I think I would have to create a scripted op so it updates in realtime ...but how to go about it .?

Another idea would be to create a script that builds an ice tree to do this but I would rather do it in pure script for m own knowledge as it opens possibilities into other other areas .

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your time guys

I would go with the the combo ICE (preview) + script (duplicate).

I think that will probably be the quickest option.
Thanks for the advice :)
