Hey fellow coders,
Can anybody recommend a Linux distribution for the development of tools for Softimage 2012, 2013 and 2014?
Until now I have been using CentOS 5.6 and it worked like a charm from XSI 7.01 to SI 2013, but unfortunately the installer of the latest SI 2014 SP2 won't run under CentOS 5.6 meaning I cannot install it and its SDK.
After installing CentOS 6.4 everything worked fine until I try to start XSI. It just gives me a something like "Abort (Core Dump)".
I am aware of the fact that Fedora is the officially supported distribution, but I had problems with addons that were built with Fedora, problems I did not have with CentOS.
Whatever hints would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Eric

This might be a topic you'd want to throw at the Softimage mailing list.
I seem to recall similar topics to have come up there over the years
(and there seems to be a higher incidence of Linux users over there as well).
