autocomplete python in external editor....
I know how stupid this probably sounds, im just curious, can i get an external editor to somehow read softimage python libraries so i can get autocomplete in an external editor?
Re: autocomplete python in external editor....
Dude, we don't even have autocomplete in Softimage's built in editor!
Re: autocomplete python in external editor....
yes im aware of that i presumed that was because it wasn't implemented into the editor...?

True. Interestingly enough, the so-called text editor widget (but not the script editor!) does support using auto-completion lists. I have never felt any urgent need for auto-completion, but you might want to look at the SDK pages concerning the text editor widgets, if it's possible to "cook up" a script editor replacement with auto-completion using these widgets...CiaranM wrote:Dude, we don't even have autocomplete in Softimage's built in editor!

The ScriptED plugin provides auto-completion within XSI if you can't find an external solution.

Re: autocomplete python in external editor....
You're right, but does this still work in SI2013?
I haven't tried this in quite a while (although I once got explicitly thanked as a "tester")
You'd still have to provide your own list for autocompletion, IIRC

I dont really care much for 2013, i dont believe it has brought that much change to the table to warrent a cross over...
But scriptED looks nice, even if it requires a custom list.
I will give it a go as soon as i get home from work.
