Animating the topology ?

Post by aio » 03 Apr 2013, 21:58

Hello forum i've made the current ice setup

Image

An empty mesh is fed a polygon to clone.
An inside null register a custom selection
and this selection is then used to delete the polygon form the topology.

The problem is I can't use it in animation, it doesn't work.

How can i animate my null and create a reveal for the poly of the object?

Thanks in advance.

ICE modeling has to stay in the Modeling stack, but if you animate the null you should see a reveal.

Thanks it's really helping.
To use the inside null backward i inverted the falloff but is there another way to negate a boolean? i tried with no luck.

Otherwise to complicate things further I wonder if it's simple to disconnect all polys of a mesh and treat them as a point cloud. For example to rotate the facets or scale them when they appear and randomize this temporaly with a state machine.

I tried before to use the Emit SRT matched instances from andy moorer
http://andy.moonbase.net/downloads?dl_cat=1

But it's pretty scene heavy to have an object per polygon, is there a way to remplace his compound with something that could work with topology?

Thank again for your time.

Ha, Steve was faster there. Interestingly enough, I'm getting some very strange results using the test polygon inside null compounds. Some really erratic behaviour where certain polygons that are clearly inside aren't picked up on.

So anyway, here are my trees. Version 1 is erratic on my end. Version 2 works great.

You probably have to delete that simulation marker.
