"no batch license available" missing "86269SFTIMSIB_2016_0F"

Post by Hirazi Blue » 08 Dec 2015, 11:42

While trying to render a scene with XSIbatch I get the following warning, followed by a lot of text and with a fatal error ("FATAL - Script aborted") at the end and no render:
Warning: there is no batch license available to run Autodesk Softimage 2015
What does this mean? Softimage is not running at the same time, so I assumed, I should have access to the batch license...

If you have a network license, it means that xsibatch cannot connect to the license server.

You can set FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS to 3 to get some more info about what licenses xsibatch is trying to check out, and from where.
%TEMP%\SoftimageLicense.log may help too.

This is my SoftimageLicense.log, maybe you (or someone else) can make sense of it... :-?

After setting this, I get the following when starting XSIbatch.bat:

The "86269SFTIMSIB_2016_0F" seems weird, as there is no Softimage 2016.

Hi

Is this Softimage 2015 SP2? I haven't installed that yet. Maybe it's a bug.

SoftimageLicense.log shows only that xsibatch is asking for an unsupported feature, which we know from FLEXLM_DIAGNOSTICS is that 2016 feature.

2015 SP1 starts by looking for 2015 features, and then some 2016 features:

86269SFTIMSIB_2015_0F
86269SFTIM_2015_0F
86270SIECS_2015_0F
86458SIECS_2016_0F

It is the MayaS bundle 2016 with the appropriate SP2 ("Softimage_2015_R2_SP2")... ;)

Is that feature in the license file? I don't have a MayaS bundle of my own to look at.

As far as the FlexLM tools ("Status Enquiry") are concerned, it isn't...

It would be interesting to compare the PACKAGE and INCREMENT blocks in your license with those in the license that works (eg you have to find someone with the exact same Softimage version who is willing to compare the body of the license file). Because either your license is missing something, or there's a problem specific to your system.

Although I currently do not have the time to hunt down this problem, due to unrelated personal issues,
anyone willing to compare license files, like XSIsupport suggests, please contact me per PM...

A question to you all: Does the problem occur with the "other" SP2 (the one bundled with MayaS 2015 as well?

Just posted the following on the Mailing List...
After having contacted Maurice Patel directly, I was informed this was the first time the devs heard of this issue.
My question to you all now is, does anyone else experience this problem as well?
I am not “on support” anymore, so my sole report doesn’t carry that much weight...
(Quoted from here)

Could someone please inform me, if this is a unique problem in my set-up or a genuine reproducible bug?
And if anyone experiences the same problem, please escalate it through Softimage support,
while there is still a small window for a possible resolution...
Thanks in advance...
:-?

Running xsibatch.exe (from SP2) with either a network license or a standalone license with no issues here.
Network grabs the 86269SFTIMSIB_2016_0F token and standalone something called MAYAS_F_S (maya bundle)
Maybe it's a license configuration issue, for example a standalone license that looks for a network token or vice-versa? which one do you have?
license.env and the setenv.bat could be some files to check for that

Thanks, I've got a network license. It still is unclear to me, why the feature is missing from my license file. I've found the following component of my license file: ""86269SFTIMSIB_2015_0F 86090SFTIMSIB_2014_0F \ 5934SFTIMSIB_2013_0F 85705SFTIMSIB_2012_0F", but no mention of "2016"...

Hmm actually not sure right now if it's 86269SFTIMSIB_2016_0F or 86269SFTIMSIB_2015_0F that was used ... will check again in the office tomorrow.

Though I think it's strange that they have the same number in the front part ( 2015, 2014 and 13 are all different)

Are you "on" SP2 or on R2-SP2? :-\

SP2 for the network license (=edu suite) and R2-SP2 for the Maya bundle.
Bundle+network is probably a very rare combination (maybe you're the only customer?) .. if there's a missing feature in your license, maybe that's why that wasn't discovered yet. :-\

did check and my network 2015 SP2 (not R2) is using 86269SFTIMSIB_2015_0F, not the XX_2016_XX kind which I don't have in the license file either. Not sure what's going on.
I was thinking it could be a firewall issue but your xsibatch.exe really seems to try get the XX_2016_XX kind which I find the weirdest part. I'd guess that something like 86269SFTIMSIB_2016_0F doesn't even exist and it's some typo in the license check source code... I'll compare the 2 exe files this evening.. maybe you just need the xsibatch.exe from the non R2 package.
