Softimage & Firewalls

Post by Hirazi Blue » 28 Dec 2014, 12:27

As I am about to connect my "workstation" to the internet for the very first time, I have a silly question. My "workstation" has a single-server serving licenses to the same machine.
This obviously will get hindered by the firewall. I found the following info:
lmgrd.exe needs INCOMING TCP ports 27000 to 27009.
adskflex.exe needs 2080.
Is opening those ports all there is to it or does it require more configuration, for instance on the side of the software (Softimage/Maya) itself?

hi, if you serve your liscence, where is the need to open thoses ports ? the only difference reside where now you have a gateway with internet or not.
On a sidenote, how can you have a workstation not connected to internet????

Opening those ports should be enough. The licensing system is hard-coded to use those ports.

In rare situations, you may need to add the 2080 to ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE. For example: 2080@xxx.xxx.x.xx

Thanks so much!!! ^:)^

And @NNois - I do all my internet stuff on a separate laptop,
the computer I laughingly call my workstation (AKA my Softimage machine)
always has been physically removed from cabled internet
(simply too far away to be bothered to lay a cable, with "distraction-free Softimage" as a bonus),
but now I've finally bought myself an external wlan card to see what joy that might bring.
;)
