Actions won't update or render properly

Is this just a known thing with Softimage? I haven't used actions in a long time, but I really needed them for this project.

When scrubbing the timeline, they update properly about 50% of the time -- and almost render correctly, but there will be a few with frames where the objects are in the wrong place.

Does the actions feature even work?

I am assuming you are talking about animation Action clips?

Actions, when rendered on a farm can sometimes have strange offsets - and if you are not careful with your transitions between clips - then that too can create a bad frame or offset.

The general rule of thumb before render is "baking" or caching your animation to harddrive and then muting the envelope operator (I think) to render without any hiccups.

Indeed they do work, and they are great.
