Although Redshift obviously wouldn't seem to be the first choice when doing NPR,
I was wondering if anyone of you has ever experimented with NPR effects in Redshift
and how one would go about achieving them...

Re: Redshift & NPR???
NPR is a broad subject. Can you narrow down a bit what you want to achieve. Are you talking about toon shading, painterly effect or simulating some styles like pointillist, impressionist or surrealist?

I think blender has much better options available for npr rendering - Freestyle especially.

ATM, I am not looking for specific styles, my question is about achieving any convincing NPR effect,Daniel Brassard wrote:NPR is a broad subject. Can you narrow down a bit what you want to achieve. as Redshift seems to be geared towards the photo-realistic render...
True, I really have to spend more time with it...mattmos wrote:I think blender has much better options available for npr rendering - Freestyle especially.

On their gallery there are some videos just a few of them look kind of NPR, majority is photo-real. You can always play with values and get exaggerated or weird looking efcts,,
if you want something artistic, you could use RS as basis and then post efct with the program you linked the other day (the one with 2d effects based on a nodal system cant remember name).
But yep i cant argue RS is geared towards realism or daylight in general or just great light, esp when GI is on and light is bouncing from the env, i kind of struggle to get high contrast colorful scenes with a lot of dark tones.
