Mental Ray vs Vray vs Redshift3D

Post by sirdavid32 » 14 Aug 2014, 19:22

I did a brute force GI test for all of them. I got the results but the video is on Spanish.
If anyone would like to see it, I´ll link it in here.

Veredict: Redshift eats the competition AND is MentalRay-shading Friendly.
But you´ll be surprised at the rendender times. I used physical sun for all test.

Else, has anyone got their own benchmarks?
What do you think between the 3?

Thanks.

I'd love to see your comparisons. I understand Spanish, so would be good. Right now I run on Arnold Demo, waiting for funding to buy liscenses, but I'm debating switching my pipeline, getting some hardware and going Redshift all the way. I was in the alpha of it, and really loved the experience, even in Alpha.

So yeah, would love to have your video!! Do Link! Por favor! ;)

It would be interesting to know render times are hardware specs for the comparisons certainly.

I'm a complete Redshift convert. Interior scenes with multiple characters which were taking over an hour in mental ray on a recent dual xeon we got down to around 5 minutes (using 2 780 gpus).Feedback for the artist is much faster, so we can turn around many more iterations of each shot.
