Hi;
I have a problem with the creation of image proxies. I have the option to create proxies automatically set in preferences but no image proxy is created at all. I have my textures organized under named folders under the Pictures directory of my Project, is this why they are not being created? Do all textures need to be under directly under the Pictures folder?
cheers;
AJ
Image Proxy Problem
Re: Image Proxy Problem
not sure. Image proxies will be created only as needed, for example when you look at the texture in the image clip ppg, or as a thumbnail in the material manager (I think), or to display in opengl). Any time a texture needs to be scaled down to view.
so it won't be created in these cases:
if the texture is didn't need to be scaled down
if it can't create the folder to store the proxy in a subdirectory of its location (e.g. missing write access user guide)
if the texture is never displayed
the "image proxy" feature is used for the UI and OpenGl, it isn't used for rendering

Re: Image Proxy Problem
Yup, that's exactly why I want to create proxies, to ease up on the OpenGL Refresh. My directory structure is as Such:
PICTURES > MOUTH > MAIN > bitmaps
When I enable proxies, nothing is created under MAIN, and that folder has full write access as well.
What gives?
Thanx

Re: Image Proxy Problem
what is the file format? xsi has to be able to write it
Re: Image Proxy Problem
.psd... Is that the case maybe you think?
Re: Image Proxy Problem
I'm not in front of softimage right now, but can the viewport capture write .psd? if it can't, then that's why the image proxies don't work - sorry
