Render farm with rack servers and blade systems setup for SI

Post by Paella » 07 Aug 2013, 02:09

Hi xsiers,
A client has payed part of my last job for his company with a rack server, the HP DL360 G5 model. It looks nice but I don't know how to add to my render farm setup.
I've extensily searching drivers and this model only supports (I mean has drivers) the following O.S:
» Microsoft Windows 2000
» Microsoft Windows Server 2003
» Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for 64-bit Extended Systems
» Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Essential Business
» Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
» Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Small Business
» Microsoft Windows Server 2008 W32
» Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64
» Novell NetWare 6.5
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (AMD64/EM64T)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (x86)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (AMD64/EM64T)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (x86)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server (x86-64)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86)
» Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server (x86-64)
» Solaris 10 for x86 Systems
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T)
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (x86)
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (AMD64/EM64T)
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86)
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (AMD64/EM64T)
» SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (x86)
» VMware ESX/ESXi 4.0
» VMware ESX/ESXi 4.1
» VMware ESX/ESXi Server 3.5

And XSI 2012 and 2014 (versions we want to install in the machine),requires:
XSI 2012 (64 bits)
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Microsoft Windows Vista Business x64 (SP2), Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 (SP2), or Fedora™ Core 14 operating system
XSI 2014 (64 bits)
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating system (SP1), , Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (SP2), or Fedora™ 14 operating system

I´m really dissapointed becouse I can't see how match the requirements ,and as far as I know there are people who has their own render farms and I suppose they use the rack servers systems or blade systems instead their workstations...
Any light will be really welcome.I'm really annoyed about this....

Thanks in advance,
P
