Problem installing and running raysatsi2012_3_9_1_38server

Post by Paella » 01 Aug 2013, 13:55

Dear xsiers I'm trying to use a pair of old pc's to setup a small auxiliary farm using the satellite render features to help me to setup quickly illumination tests and tuning.
I've switched both Pc's to W7 64 bits ultimate SP1 and XSI2012 SP1 64 bits
Due that the old satellite installing options have dissapeared from the setup installer in this version (2012) of XSI, for the satellite services setup,I've closely followed this nice tutorial:
https://vimeo.com/21884667 Softimage 2012 - Setting up satellite rendering

Editing the SERVICES files in both computers has been easy and clean, including the TCP port and short description (as in the tutorial)
Problems arise when I try to install the service raysatsi2012_3_9_1_38server (with the option /install)
one PC shows:
error <883> OpenSCManager: Denied access. <0x5>
the other one:
shows a line where it says that the raysatsi2012_3_9_1_38server has been istalled but suddenly follows with a raysatsi2012_3_9_1_38server can't start the service.
In both cases I've tried to /remove the service and re-install it but both messages are showed constantly.
I know that the SCM console manage the services but it seems to deny me the access in both Pc's.
I have account as administrator,no firewalls installed so I don't know whatelse to do.
Any help will be highly appreciated due the deadline of the proyect.
Kind regards,
P

Hi again...
Maybe the question should had been: which is the easiest and fastest way to create a 3 pc (master and tu slaves) satellite rendering farm (same OS -W7Ultimate 64b SP1 - and software -XSI2012-) to help rendering tiles on big frames while tweaking and tuning parameters(mainly illumination)?.
Thanks very much in advance again.

Did you use "Run as Administrator" to open the command prompt?

Hi, you're most welcome :)

I think 2013 and 2014 are pretty much the same. I don't remember anything different about 2013, but I haven't tried with 2014.
