Hello, all!
Can anybody tell about IOR parameter in Mega_tk shader from puppet?
And for advanced artists, how to achieve such result:
Thanks.

Re: IOR, Glass
This look can be achieved with many shaders, from the basic lambert via incidence 2 gradient 2 reflectivity, or true glass shader, to the new arch material (google for mi's own pdf on it).art wrote:Hello, all!

if your looking for info on ior look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refractive_index
if you looking for a how to the arch material pdf is probably the best route.
if your looking for more detailed explanations the end links at wiki will help.

Re: IOR, Glass
very often it works if your objekt have a thickness...there is a plugin for xsi..another one is a plugin to extrude by normals...if you have a thickness it is easy to create shader to have such this result...i did it in my last job
Re: IOR, Glass
hi, can you tell us what's the thickness plugin you're talking about?
I tried the Kim Aldis one, but it doesn't seems to work with Softimage 7.x
Thanks

check this, you have to register and then can browse the projects. the one that could do the job for you is the solidify operator

Re: IOR, Glass
Thank you, but it doesn't work with 64 bits platform...wich is the one I use.
Re: IOR, Glass
I see, same problem as me (this is why having 2 pcs i still keep one of the two with 32bit system, lot of cool shaders/plugins don't work in 64b)...by the way, if the shape you have to give thickness isn't too complex you can even do it by hand, for things such glasses etc it's quite simple

Re: IOR, Glass
Could you be more specific? I just tried it on my 64-bits 7.01 & 7.5 and it seemed to work just fine...julius wrote: I tried the Kim Aldis one, but it doesn't seems to work with Softimage 7.x
Stay safe, sane & healthy!
Re: IOR, Glass
Strange, I'll try agin... It would be a great news for me.
Thanks

Re: IOR, Glass
Sorry about that, it works fine...I don't know what I've done during my first try.
