Re: emit particle from multi obj , transfrom object by particle?
Here's a scene. Everything happens in the point cloud's ICE tree, the toruses have nothing special applied to them. I slightly modified the Emit compound to allow a position array input. The main problem is ICE's inability to set data on groups. You have to set the positions for each object individu...

Re: Curve point constraint
That worked perfectly. But what did you do here? You supplied a name as the cluster, but that name may not always be correct (for example if your curve already had an identically named cluster before you applied the script). ApplyFlexEnv returns the automatic enveloping operator whose parent is the...

Re: Curve point constraint
The argument error points to the envelope weights property. (see documentation: http://download.autodesk.com/global/docs/softimage2014/en_us/sdkguide/si_cmds/SIModifyFlexEnvWght.html ) Here's a version that should work: A = Application op = A.ApplyFlexEnv("crvlist;sphere,sphere1,sphere2,sphere3...

Re: How to find the Volume and area of the surface?
hi, im interesting of this, but, how you can see the attribute ? Could you please explain the full process ? i can't find anything about it... It's an object attribute. Not having SI in front of me, I assume you can apply an Attribute Display property to your object (Get->Property->Display Attribut...

Re: Choosing the operative ice tree in Construction stack
In the post simulation tree you test whether the current frame is part of the desired time period. If false, you get self.scale and set it without doing anything. If true, you get self.scale, do your adjustments and set it.

No, there is no indication of this.probiner wrote:Oh so it's like SI is dying from a development pov? :/azurecgi wrote:What's so funny is the concept of the developers adding something as useful as this! Their track record over the last 2 releases makes it seem rather unlikely

Re: Fbx from softimage to max , give me different scale
so you mean Fbx in max =1 cm = 1unit which mean 10cm in SI . We've spent countless hours trying to figure out how it works, but I'm still not entirely sure. We use meters in Max. To get there, I model "1 unit = 1 meter" in SI. But when I import into Max, I have to specify the FBX units as...

Re: Best modeling practices on SI for a LW user?
-"Connect" Basically splits polygons on selected opposing vertices/edges or if neighbor polygons are selected. It splits edges if an edge is selected in isolation. I feel like all this is present in SI but quite split over several tools. I select the edges I want and press Shift+D to subd...

Re: Change the selection that a specific stack operator is using
Component ID will always be a limitation on these kinds of things. Very true. You do have additional options with ICE based topology changes (for instance, making your ICE topo operator only affect polygons that are facing a certain direction: so component ID does not matter), but it still has its ...

Re: small annoying things
Instead of scaling an instance by -1, use a clone and apply a Symmetrize op. The Weld option is on by default. Make the clone unselectable so that you are only working on the original. To avoid z-buffer artefacts, apply a Display property to make the original always wireframe and turn off Override ...

Re: instance array replicator
You can do it in two steps. Duplicate N times to create the row. Then select the whole row and duplicate M times to create the columns. Or instance with ICE using a grid pointcloud? Both are great options that I use often. Of course doing it in ICE is infinitely preferrable if you want to be able t...

Re: Motion graphics with Softimage questions
I've tried groups before, but I guess I'm just not crazy about Softimage's workflow in the Explorer window. Maybe I'll give it another try though. When I want to group stuff, I simply parent it under Nulls or Model Nulls. That way it looks neat in the explorer, and I can expand it whenever I need t...

Re: A new softimage user
I think there's an option in SI to make it match the Maya hotkeys for view manipulation etc. Should make things a little easier ;) Doesn't that introduce all sorts of workflow limitations though? I seem to recall people advising against choosing the Maya controls. To this very day I use the Maya ca...

Re: small annoying things
Another issue: symmetry mode in softimage is not so useful, but I don't extrude/delete/add anything is useful. Strangely, sometime work, sometime no, and sometime symmetry is lost during the modelling process. There is a reason for this? This actually is a small annoying thing. I usually just model...
