Red Error
Although this is related to plug-ins is not exactly about them. I'm sure our Hirazi will move this thread to where it belongs if here does not. (Moderator edit: luckily, Hirazi Blue has nothing better to do :D - HB) What I'd like to know is if it's possible to get rid of the red lower error bar that...

Re: Typhoon and Tiger Tank - WWII Aviation Art
More contrast between lighted areas and those in umbra. Specularity doesn't seem to exist on the tank model and given the fact that military machines, especially those caught in the middle of the war are rough and bumpy, scratched and when metal is scratched it shows specular light. In the war time ...

The nudity tag I find very useful in situations such as when you're in the office scouring sicommunity.com for plugins, and accidentaly hit a thread like mine and it just so happens that your boss walks in exactly in that moment (as usual ... :-bd ) I was going for a preview here because the thread...

Re: Typhoon and Tiger Tank - WWII Aviation Art
Hi, A lot of work has been put in that image, although I feel it's not enough. It lacks realism, maybe you weren't aiming for that, but then it lacks style too. Dynamism is there but not the best in my opinion. Those rockets could use some (more) motion blur. The lighting is... I don't know, flat? Y...

Re: Softimage 2012 SP 1 released
What happens with the architectural shader? Seems to be working OK here. Make to spheres. Put the same architecural shader on each of them. Render with the default light. Now put any UV projection on one of the spheres. Render again and observe. Achim Did that and observed: nothing. Are you sure th...

Why should nVidia do any different than Mental Images? They have a client - Autodesk - and AD has you. Marketing department is celebrating.

Re: Softimage 2012 Experiences
I'm pretty sure that this was said before, somewhere on this vast web or even on this website, but I must say it too: My guess is that Mray is "dead" because they - m.images - have a yearly or monthly income secured due to the many applications through which Mray is sold pretty much by def...

Re: Softimage 2012 Experiences
Don't think about something technical like "area" or "shadow map" :) I'm referring to the fact that 3delight for example does a little more occlusion (without an occlusion shader or comp) at the base of the hair/grass and realism is a little better. The same hair-ball (hair on a ...

Re: Softimage 2012 Experiences
Nice grass render you got in there Maximus.
i just hate how Mray doesn't do "deep" shadows like 3delight for example.

Re: Softimage 2012 Experiences
Oh, OK that is nice. I guess.
For testing is useful, but for the final image's render time makes no difference.
So yeah, it's good to have it.
