Re: Parametric modeling (Closed linear curves for start)

@Myara I only pasted a portion of the code is correct as the entire plugin is over 600 lines of codes. For that just download the plugin from the Softimage Resources area (search for "parametric formula") and unzip the plugin to a file. The entire code is JScript and include over 100 prese...

Re: Parametric modeling (Closed linear curves for start)

Here is how I do these parametric curve and surfaces in JS. Extracted from the parametric formula plugin available in the softimage resources. // Initialize the u and v Knot arrays var uKN = []; var vKN = []; // Calculate number of knots needed for parameterization var nbUKN = nbUCP + u_Degree - 1 ;...

Re: accessing color in scripts question

VBScript is case insensitive so red, Red and reD are the same variable in vbscript JScript and C# in the other hand are case sensitive so red, Red and reD would be three different variables. This is also true for Python, C and C++. When you use GetValue your are actually asking the current "Val...

Re: Autodesk to lay off a further 13% of its workforce

It means that the subscription model is growing slowly but not has fast as the investors would have liked it as client with permanent licences are slower to adopt the subscription model. The reaction of the investors was a massive sell-off which sent the shares down by 20% but, for those with foresi...

Re: Autodesk to lay off a further 13% of its workforce

Autodesk isn't quite there yet: 45% of its $515.3 million in Q3 revenues derived from subscriptions, though that's up significantly from 23% in the prior-year Q3. Meanwhile, Autodesk's traditional license revenues have been faltering as it convinces clients to move to subscription, which has caused...

Re: Autodesk to lay off a further 13% of its workforce

I think there is a combination of things going on at Autodesk at the moment that are impacting their bottom line. Purchase and investment into new area such a cloud and the move to rental is only a portion of the problem. The Intertainment industry is in transition at the moment due to the lack of r...

Re: Biosuit WIP

@Mathaeus

Thanks for the insight about the suit and your inspiration behind the choice of the helmet. I did understand that you wanted to show the full head and hair and why you chose the all glass helmet. Looking forward to see where you are going to push this designs.

Cheers!

Re: Biosuit WIP

Hi Mathaeus, Great job on the character designs and polish render. Your feedback on H is interesting and informative. Have you considered changing the helmet designs to be in line with the organic biosuit? The current design is acting like a magnifying lense, increasing the head size of the characte...

Re: Cycles for Softimage

Interesting conversation on Softimage list: Did anyone just happen to notice cycles nodes on softimage includes SUBSTANCE DESIGNER MATCHING PORTS FOR SHADING? Meaning: import stuff from substance directly with cyNodes into SI. Deeeengg that's a time saver! Huge update to Softimage if you ask me cons...

Re: Cycles for Softimage

The naming of some nodes gave me some though as it did not compare 100% with the cycle naming such as mixclosure versus mix nodes or color vs RGB nodes. "Closure" has a different use in OSL so it was a bit confusing to me why the author chose to use closure instead of shader as per the Cyc...

Re: Great work done with Softimage

CGWolrd Japan has some good videos done with Softimage and ICE. Here is an example of what has been done with Softimage ICE. "Vol 40 ICE Garden - A New Beginning" is by Nobuhiro Yamazaki. Check out the other volumes (1 to 39) as well. Neat stuff from our Softimage Japanese friends. [media]...
