hey, just working on some planet shots. was focusing, to get depth into the ocean. used a bathymetry geometry below the water and than the single scatter to get depth. the clouds are made with the new ray traced SSS in Redshift. less than 2 minutes pre frame on HD. love it. :) europe_wip_no_clouds_v...

Was recreating your steps to get into it and also just trying some of these procedural modeling stuff in Houdini.
