Re: Softimage and Unreal

I don't have much experience with Softimage and Unreal but, you can't export instances, or clones. You need to convert them to meshes before exporting.

Good Luck with your new projects !

Even if 3D becomes just a hobbie for you, I'm sure we will cross paths again.

See you !

Re: Exit and disable Supra and Sticky mode

It isn't really my problem but I've been able to replicate it in Softimage 2013. After working with translate, scale, change pivot and snap. Some of these tools get locked. I was doing some tests and my translate tool and snap got locked. I was assuming that holding the pivot and snap key would have...

Exit and disable Supra and Sticky mode

I never use supra mode or sticky keys, but lately using a lot pivot and snap I accidentally enter supra mode and snap get sticked.

How can I exit this mode ? And, if possible disable this feature completely.

Re: Simple VBS scripting question (Multiple object CopyPaste)

I don't know why you are trying VBS. I'd suggest to start with Python even if that's harder at the beginning. I think VBS might be the easiest one at first, but it gets pretty nasty when you try to do more advanced things. Anyway, the problem using CopyPaste is that it doesn't have a return value. M...

Re: Regarding the Prop Tool...

By default Alt + Pad 2 http://i68.tinypic.com/2lsuxcz.jpg But, I'd suggest to change it to fit your needs. Alt + Pad2 forces me to use both hands, dropping my pen or mouse, so that's a bad workflow for me. Personally I use it with ctrl + B because Softimage doesn't have anything with that combinatio...

Re: Can you remove clusters with Object Model? (not using "Application"")

The remove methods are for removing items from a Collection, it doesn’t delete the items.

Re: Can you remove clusters with Object Model? (not using "Application"")

And you can turn off the log too. Every time a command is run, it will log the result. This slow things up quite a lot when you are iterating a lot of objects. You can disable it like this: xsi = Application # Log Off prefs = xsi.Preferences prefs.SetPreferenceValue( "scripting.cmdlog", 0 ...

Re: need your knowledge! which addons from http://www.si-community.com/community/resources.php work correctly from 201

The only problem I could see it would be if some addons are using pyside and you are using Windows 10. In that case you would need to use an external Python, and edit the setenv file.
Other than that, all the plugins should work in the latest Softimage version.

Re: Texture Articfacts Realtime OpenGL

You could try with this, to create a floating camera view, in JScript: This will create a floating view of the camera you are selecting If you are not selecting a camera it will create a floating view of the camera you are using in your current view If your current view is the User camera it can't d...

Re: low-cost 3D software (alternatives to Blender?)

Modo is affordable, but not cheap.
Lightwave is more affordable. Around US$1K I think
Maya LT is relatively cheap but rental only. It could be a good introduction to Maya with all its pros and cons.
Metasequoia is free or really cheap (commercial) but it’s only for modeling.

Re: how to customize

This is a plugin I wrote a long time ago when I used to write in VBS. It has 3 events, On Start up (on Softimage start up) On End New Scene Open (after a new scene has been opened) You could add more events like siOnEndSceneOpenEvent for being executated after an Scene has been opened. Just put the ...

Re: how to customize

You’ll have to create a Plugin with an event.
For doing that, is not that difficult, you only need an extremely basic level of scripting knowledge.
I’m writing from my cellphone right now but I’ll write you an example when I go to my office on monday.
