Re: Softimage 2012 Experiences

Unfortunately it does the same thing here. Tested with a 2011 scene and it hangs a few secs more in 2012 until it starts rendering.
What is even more peculiar to me, is that the scene took more time to load in 2012 also. A lot more...

Re: Getting into ICE

I've solved the problem using a "point in volume" and a "if" condition. "point in volume" was the node that I wasn't aware of it seems.
Oh well, one thing learned one million to go.
Thanks.

Getting into ICE

Ok, several years had passed since ICE got into XSI and until little time ago I've been sniffing but nothing more. Recently I've decided to plunge into it but so far it's not working as it seems that I just can't figure how to think ICE and given the fact that I have some programming background it's...

Hey Maximus, I don't know if you intended this but you're supporting my point with what you just said.
Thanks anyway :)

Re: Mental ray 3.9 features list

As far as I know XSI didn't have all mray features revealed to user (as max did) so I could say only with the name was on par with its sister.
Hm, now that you've told me that, I believe 2012 won't be any different.

Re: Mray & Battle LA

I think I'll just have to resort to that: post :(
Splitting the heli into multiple pieces - while simple and straight forward - might be the killer (uncool factor) for this approach. I'll just play around and let you know what I've come up with.

Re: Mray & Battle LA

Thanks for your fast respond, Hirazi. Unfortunately, this doesn't solve my problem. I've switched to linear, played with exponent value, attenuation values in both linear and exponential instances and none appears to work. My case is this: i have one stroboscopic light on the tale of an helicopter. ...

Mray & Battle LA

Not really, the title is intended to be misleading LOL in order to catch your attention and I apologize for this. :) This is about a problem I'm currently having: when I apply a Property> Lens Flare to a point light it seems that if I activate light attenuation on the soft_light shader, the lens eff...

Re: CGSociety - CGRetrospective 2010

While I'm very happy about this, I'm wondering who makes that top and based on what. Maybe the answer to my wondering is easy to find but I'm feeling ignorant right now and don' like to google. Is it possible that Autodesk has something to do with this?

Re: Spacepilot Pro Softimage

In my always right opinion (hahaha), these toys are... well toys. At least when we're talking about working in 3d apps like XSI. Some CAD apps may benefit them but I'm not so sure about that. One neat gadget cannot replace the good old infinite times proven keyboard.

Re: OK, so the sky isn't falling, but AD isn't marketing SI well

I think we should be a bit more optimistic about XSI's future as it's exposed to new users constantly and being the great software we long term users know it is, I have no doubt that it will conquer the hearts of all who will come in contact with XSI. If AD doesn't do something really stupid (like d...
