Re: Proposal: Community Tutorial Project?
I'll volunteer to make tutorials. Just need to know what people are missing. I would really like to see some good rigging tutorial. Especially face setup (because the rest i can do somehow with GEAR autorig :) ) on some cartoon character. With good explanation from experienced rigger, tips&tric...

Re: Steampunk WIP
first i have to say i really like this project. looking forward to see updates
about the foreground DOF, i would recommend rendering those elements in separate layers and then using simple defocus filter (i guess animation will be comped in nuke/fusion or something like that)

Re: Size and shape of the Model null
Thank you Eric. I was hoping there is some secret options or something... :) I am modeling a lot of houses/components that will be instanced in a city. I need to keep them in one scene, but can't have them all at 0,0,0... anyway, I will just add another null at position of each model null so i can s...

Re: 2D-CGI Ninja Turtles - complete episode
wau, really impressive amount of work done here. i liked this series so much when i was a kid :) i think the look of mechanical stuff is good, but characters (especially humans) are a little bit too cg for me. i guess using only two colors in toon shader without gradient would help. damn, now i can'...

Re: Zambezia Production Focus
It's nice to see Softimage Facebook page so active recently. (btw, have you noticed that Softimage has around 40% of Maya's number of fans on facebook, not bad :) ) anyway, great to see some article about project involving softimage on cgsociety, but i have to agree with others here, they could do m...

Re: MilanVasek wips
thanks for suggestions... i was thinking about the cliffs and you are right. it would be cool. so i will try to add them :) for me, this 3d scene in its current state is more like a sketch. changing the city completely by moving hundreds of houses takes just few moments, so i can experiment. apart f...

some WIP of models that will be used in the streets... http://www.milanvasek.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/streetstuff.jpg and a test of a rope compound done by my friend Luca, who didn't know anything about ICE before he started making it :) it's really cool now, you just select 2 nulls, it makes ...

Re: electric chair chamber - xsi, nuke. Personal project
hi. reading your story reminds me of myself several years ago... I also switched from max to xsi when i went to a studio using it and was amazed by it ever since :) image is looking really nice. great amount of detail everywhere in models. i can't wait to see it with textures and shaders. only the g...

Re: MilanVasek wips
small update. I did quite a lot of work that is not too visible. Main thing is that I started using standins and modeled low poly proxy objects using only boxes, so that when I instance them and display pointcloud as boxes, I get quite accurate representation of the models and something like 15fps w...

Re: MilanVasek wips
a little OT. but i'm posting it here for two reasons. the first is that "lowpoly, bad topology" teapot and the second is, that i love this stage of the process (before glazing) when it looks like cg clay render :) http://www.milanvasek.com/pottery/047.jpg and now back to modeling houses fo...

Re: Fusion & Nuke
Yes, I ment its easier to set-up, get along and have results. Truth is that NukeX has a wealth of usefull stuff for vfx in comparison to the crippled Nuke version as I call it. Regarding the crippled Nuke and Fusion, I would say that it mostly comes down to preference then, which is mostly a thing ...

Re: MilanVasek wips
I'm afraid not but I'm always available to pose in a bowler hat and big moustache =p~ Could you make custom instances of different body parts for the people? Something similar to your buildings but with a selction of heads, legs, arms etc? cool, at least i will have some reference for modeling :D w...
