Re: perfect UVs on a sphere ?

If it's just for rendering purposes, go with "implicit" rather than the default "explicit" projection.

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?

That's really sad. Such a shame the SDK is limiting work like this so badly. If the pace of development with the new team continues as is I don't suppose there is much hope for improvement.

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?

but a few years ago I purchased MOI3D and haven't looked back. Hey, another MoI fan! I love that program. If we could just get MoI seamlessly integrated into SI as another modeling tab it would be outstanding. The only thing keeping me from using it more is that it is a separate program which leads...

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?

For a real pro tool set I'd be willing to pay. I paid $150 for the first LWCAD and I'd be willing to do the same again.

Great to hear! Much needed.

I do think there's great potential there but also a lot of work to develop. Best of luck!

Re: Arch-viz addons for Softimage?

Hi Eugen, I have to agree 100% with everything you said. Please let us know when you do set up a resource page. I used to use LWCAD back in my Lightwave days. I thought it was one of the best at the time. I think most of that could be done in ICE now if someone wanted to develop a serious product. I...

Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer

I've had a chance to double check on some of this: -if you have a large scene with many objects and you do a modeling change on one object, does the entire scene need to be reprocessed/exported? -is instancing supported? through ICE? -what happens when you do modeling changes to an object which is i...

Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer

If I understand you correctly, no it does not have the same issues. I'll check further to see if this is the case. Integration is much like MR (better in many ways) and if you modify something on a big scene it does not seem to have to re-transfer the entire scene.

Re: Autodesk SI compare page in French? That's a bit odd.

Guess they just wanted some variety. Why stop with French, maybe they should throw in some Japanese and Russian since they have a good user base in those areas. :)

Autodesk SI compare page in French? That's a bit odd.

http://www.autodesk.com/products/autode ... ge/compare

Did someone forget to translate? Everything else on the site is in English.

I like what they've done with the AD site overall though. It is an improvement I think.

Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer

In some ways yes. I think it's because they're still adding features which technically still makes it alpha. There's a bit to go yet to get all the great stuff they have planned in the first release. Lots of work but going quickly. Makes me realize just how pathetic the mentalray/AD integration is. ...

Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer

I can second that. It is coming along VERY NICELY. This will be THE render engine to get when it comes out, no doubt. I'm so glad I got on the test team, it has been a great experience.

Re: Migrating from max, question(s)..

Redshift is spectacular and if you want to do some Arch Vis in SI I would really try to get on the test team. You'll be blown away. It's very stable and I think very ready for Arch Vis. As for modeling with curves, I know it's a bit of a change in workflow but a lot of what you're used to doing with...

Annoying bug in "Fit Subcomponent UV's to Image" - solution

"Fit Subcomponent UV's to Image" hasn't worked for a long time and it still doesn't work in 2013 SP1 (I don't know about 2014). Anyway, Steve helped me fix it some time ago and I just ran into it again so I thought I'd post it if anyone needs it. Here's a fixed script. Just replace the one...
