Re: 3D-Coat 4.7

I keep telling myself to try this program for some time now. I went to their website and didn't find a trial and although their "amateur" version has a very accessible price, I'd rather spend nothing if it can be helped, obviously. Do you know if installing will allow you to run it in tria...

Arnold trial

Hey people, I decided to post this instead of contact Solidangle thinking I'm gonna get a response sooner. From the try Arnold page it's not very clear for me if the trial lasts for 15 days or 15 days with no watermarks and then indefinitely but with watermarks. If it's the latter it would be an ama...

Re: A sculpt a day

Thanks...
The title is optimistic to say the least, it's more like "a sculpt a month" :p

Re: A sculpt a day

No false modesty - "stunning" is a bit exaggerated, but I'm glad you like them. :)
Will keep them coming for sure.
Today I've managed to stole an hour or so from work ( :-$ ) to lay down a cat head foundation. With Universe's help, I'll be able to finish it tomorrow. :))

Re: A sculpt a day

I don't think you need to know how to draw in order to model/sculpt well. In my case I've exercised my drawing skills (which are still pretty low) after I've learned traditional modeling and sculpting. Drawing is in fact just another means/technique of expressing some knowledge, as is with sub-D mod...

Re: A sculpt a day

@draise - I know, that's why I'm dissatisfied with my working speed. Not that quality is top-notch but that will come in time because, as we all know, practice makes perfect. @maximus - thanks. You should probably try it. You might discover a new love :) This is the 2nd img - a dog head (used german...

A sculpt a day

... keeps professional rust away. I say. A sculpt per day in my case is highly optimistic, but that's the way the saying goes . One per week is probably more realistic. I'm attempting to improve the speed (hopefully quality as well) I work with in creating characters. It took me a few good hours to ...

Re: What are your thoughts about Houdini?

Well, I can't, that would take too much time. I mean, of course, people have different views on what's a detailed description on something and I happen to be long winded on a few topics of interest to me. To put things in perspective - in two yrs I've written almost a thousand post on sidefx's forum...

Re: What are your thoughts about Houdini?

I won't go into any details here, but I'll say this: for someone that wants to focus and specialize on the more artistic stuff (modeling and rigging for the sole purpose of character posing), the more I dig in, the more frustrated I get with Houdini. Mantra was the only attracting light for this mot...

Re: Fabric Engine 2 is available!

I see, I understand where you're coming from. The uncertainty is there, even with big companies, let alone with smaller ones, is what I'm thinking. If lots of things in life are about probabilities, then all we can do (and should do if you ask me) is to improve the odds. How one goes about achieving...

Re: Fabric Engine 2 is available!

Sure they do. Just like Mudbox creators and countless others did. It is actually the very fact that they do have hole brains the reason for which they will do this, but I'm sure you know what "having half a brain" figure of speach refers to (i.e. having at least half a brain). :) Just curi...

Re: Fabric Engine 2 is available!

Pretty sure Fabric will be bought out by Autodesk or other big player at some point not too distant in the future. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, I genuinely believe it will happen. Any great piece of tech created by a small group will attract the sharks and unless those creators are some re...
