Re: Can substitute cloned source mesh ?
If you use 2012, then cloning and merging can be handled through ICE, allowing whatever inputs to be swapped at any time.

Re: Path tracing in the viewport
That looks great! I'd love to know more about it. How does it work. Is it based on a similar system to mine? Have you tried a sequence? its funny that you say you don't know about renderers. I didn't either at all when I did my ray cam thing. But you have done a great job with the multiple bounce th...

Re: ICE....growing range
You have nothing in your tree that would create an additive effect over time. On a new branch you need to use closest points to find the color of the nearest, say 5 neighbours, see if one of them is red, (find closest in array, compare it to red (you may need to split it into RGB for this as I think...

Re: Softimage 2012
And wouldn't it be nice to have some new animation feature Max & Maya don't have? Or a renderer that works? I hated the pedantic nature of Mental Ray and I felt it went against XSI's user friendly philosophy, but then, I came from Fprime, in LW, which had to be the easiest renderer out at the t...

Re: Softimage 2012
I think Softimage is becoming ever more a generalists app. It covers all areas with a fast workflow and yet allowing great depth if needed. I understand the frustration about the apparent lack of advances in mental ray, but then I have never used it to render in. I think that maybe softimage is cons...

Just a note to say that there are 11 so far. I hope newcomers to ICE will find them useful.

Re: Getting .kine. values at different frame/time
I was trying to find this too the other day, didn't figure it out.
It seems like it should be really obvious and basic. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it too.

Re: Softimage and good skin renders
Lee is pretty smitten with Arnold and it's skin shader. The shader does make a big difference.

This is worth taking a look at. Its the same head model and textures rendered with lots of different shaders and renderers.
