Re: Cycles for Softimage
Yo shekn can you drop us some paypal or something so we can contribute? :D SPJ, i dont think there is any fast way to convert a whole mental ray scene to cycles, im afraid you have to do it manually. on another note the only little annoying thing i've found so far on this engine is that when you dra...

Re: Cycles for Softimage
hey anyone have any idea why these reflections appear in the liquid? i've turn everything off except transmission. it looks like enabling transmission gives you automatically reflections which i do not want. The liquid should not have reflections but be just a transparent look with scatter volume mo...

Re: Cycles for Softimage
by the way i was having some issues with latest nvidia drivers having 2x nvidia 1080 set them in SLI. i had to disable SLI and the boost in speed using GPU was massive, i think nvidia fucked up something with SLI when you connect the cards in SLI mode. So if anyone is finding speed issues on GPU try...

Re: Cycles for Softimage
for some reason when i install the addon the render doesnt appear in the scene render dropdown list. Everything is installed, shaders, and i can use the shaders within the render tree, but i can not select the scene render as Cycles i've installed the vc redistributable 2019, does it need the 32bit ...

Re: assigning texture and shaders to weightmap
edit: nevermind i just figured it out how to do this, using a color_map_lookup (set to weightmap) plugged into a redshift material blender so to mix the 2 shaders, once you have the weightmap.

assigning texture and shaders to weightmap
hey guys im a bit lost here, i think its a fairly simple thing to do but i can not remember how to do it :D basically i have a grid which i assigned a weight map, now i want to give this grid 2 colors or lets say 2 textures, where the weightmap is black i wanna give it a color, where the weightmap i...

Re: Shading assistance?
Redshift Fresnel should do it. What look are you going after? I remember Incidence shader in mental ray is basicaly a Fresnel shader with controls, i think you can achieve any look the same in Redshift using the Fresnel, unchecking the "use index of refraction" and play with the sliders of...

Re: SItoA-6.1.0
i was thinking to buy it, but i have no idea how long this project is going to be updated if no on uses it, its risky for me, i play with it with watermarks but i feel like they really did an amazing job and i wanted to get a license even tho softimage isnt supported anymore, so im a bit skeptical. ...

Re: Need a plugin developed
you have to modify your high poly model, so that it is fit the entire flattened source object i.e. fit the uv (just like you texture that top object) bellow I just extend and boll that high poly object, although the result is wrong, but the principle is same. top.gif can you please share that scene?

Re: Need a plugin developed
I just test that "deform by UV", and it is really a "2 click" solution Just one ICE node on the poly you want deform off course another "several click", If you source polygon has UV seems to cut, like arms example in the original thread There is even an menu command &q...

Re: Need a plugin developed
nevermind i think i'll just do it with 3ds max, there is absolutely nothing in softimage that produces the same result with 2 clicks on dense mesh. I tried deform by UV but the workflow is crazy and im not even be able to finish it. I just test that "deform by UV", and it is really a &quo...

Re: Need a plugin developed
maybe he meant softimage's shrinkwrap? that thing is a complete disaster, unusuable, everytime i use it it produces so many distorted mesh, actually never once i got a decent result with extremely low res geometry, imagine with a geometry like the one i've posted in the video, subdivided and dense.
