Re: How are you guys doing with 2014? It seems very buggy to me.

Actually, no it didn't fix the problem. The construction mode crash is a bug. If you want, I'll post a scene to test my problem. One thing that's odd about these crashes is that sometimes I'll try to restart Softimage and I'll get a "no interactive license" error, and then I have to go int...

I believe that runonce may have solved a few problems, including the construction mode crashing.

Chris, have you guys seen the crash bug with switching construction modes? It happens to me about 50% of the time.

Maybe I should have used the term "Holy Grail" instead of Unicorn.

Re: Which GPU Render can I use now with XSI animation?

We've got a dedicated thread called Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer , in which you can read a lot of opinions about it already. Personally I however am starting to think everyone who joins their alpha must agree to praise the software excessively wherever possible. But that's a joke, BTW....

Re: How are you guys doing with 2014? It seems very buggy to me.

Have you tried deleting your user profile and starting fresh? You're getting waaay more crashes than me (using 2014 sp2) and i'm doing a lot of weight map stuff, ice data etc, really it feels like one of the more stable releases to me. The only thing i havent touched yet is syflex... I'm going to t...

Switching construction modes is what's killing me tonight. About 10 crashes when switching to any construction mode.

Re: Graphic Card Heavy Weights

The 780 is very close to the Titan for a lot less money.

Just don't buy a video card that costs the same as a whole computer. "Workstation cards" may have been important years ago, but they're not worth the extra bucks now with all the regular consumer cards being great.

Re: Graphic Card Heavy Weights

I just got a gtx 780, which is slightly slower than a Titan(and $300 less) -- but I got it for Redshift GPU rendering. I wouldn't put too much hope in getting great performance gains in Open GL by a new video card. It's mostly hardware snake oil -- especially Quadro, when you consider how expensive ...

The crashing with weight painting...please guys I hope you can find a fix for this because its really bad. Is this something you've tracked down yet?

I didn't install sp2 yet, but I didn't notice anything about a fix for it in the list. Will I do better with sp2?

Re: How to get TRUE self collision with Syflex?????

I'm talking about self collision. There are no inner and outer envelope settings.

For samples, do you mean the "precision" setting? I put it at the lowest possible number I can, and I still get a lot of geometry passing through each other.

Re: How are you guys doing with 2014? It seems very buggy to me.

Here's a crash I've noticed several times. When painting a weight map being used for "active area" in Syflex, I get a crash when switching from add to smooth mode. It's happened at least at least enough times for me to be scared when doing it.

How to get TRUE self collision with Syflex?????

I'm simulating some tubes (for hair) using self collision, and no matter what settings I use, I still get geometry passing through each other. Does it really work?

Using ICE driven Syflex BTW.

Re: How are you guys doing with 2014? It seems very buggy to me.

I'm onto another bug that's been responsible for a lot of lost work. I can't duplicate it exactly yet, but I'm seeing a pattern of a crash when switching to shape modeling mode after doing a lot of geometry modifications in the modeling stack. I freeze the modeling, then switch to shape modeling -- ...

Re: How are you guys doing with 2014? It seems very buggy to me.

Did you reported it or sent the CER? This would help. Another unrelated weird thing in regard to weight maps and ICE Syflex...when using an "active area" map, disconnecting the map will not really disconnect it. I have to destroy the ICE tree and rebuild it. Or copy/cut it, then destroy a...
