Re: Fabric Engine EOL

Also, Often when I asked questions on their forum, I was met with 'code-snobbery' from other users (not the Developers, I should mention) who thought that I should learn to code not mess about with nodes. That was quite offputting. You'll find the same position/recommendation in Houdini's community...

Re: The return of Mudbox?

@Bellsey I haven't played with Mudbox in ages. Like 5 yrs if not more. Probably more. Even then, I remember how the graphics card was essential. I'll look to see if there's still a trial version to see what's changed. I agree with whatever pluses you've mentioned here, but Zbrush does have lots of f...

Re: Fabric Engine EOL

The risk of investing in small products developed by small teams does not emerge only from the high probability of failure as a business, but from being bought out as well. Usually the original company loses its control over the direction of development or any other important decision regarding the ...

Re: The return of Mudbox?

But unlike Silo, Mudbox is owned by Autodesk which has the cash to make it a real solution (again) I, for one, would love to see it around Zbrush feature wise and with a faster viewport - it's GPU based I think. Given that one can save a .obj file for your sculpt and raster images for the textures, ...

Re: Fabric Engine EOL

Or maybe a "Fabric person" will chime in to put an end to the speculation. Let's hold hands and hope together :)

Re: Fabric Engine EOL

Certainly, introducing more criteria will yield a more accurate result regarding any approximation. Do you think that s/w industry fares better than startups in other industries when it comes to success rates? My intuition, which is of course not data, tells that it's quite possible that s/w startup...

Re: Fabric Engine EOL

Am I being cynical if I say this doesn't surprise me at all? Not that I'm happy about it or the fact that I fell like I'll have to pull a "I told you so", but I did express skepticism (in some forgotten thread) about investing time and money in such a small platform/company. It's always a ...

Much better now IMO. Feels more like a forum rather than a CSS lacking html page.

Re: Update to phpBB 3.2.1

I haven't read all the 4 pages of this thread, so if this has been mentioned already, please just file it as "+1" regarding the issue: I'm a UHD user and I welcome the bigger font but dislike the fact that the text section (i.e. the forum itself w/o the top gallery) stretches the whole dis...

I like that look of hefty metal, excavators and old tanks have.

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down

Thus far Houdini has come with a free Apprentice license. You don't have to register anywhere, just download an installer from their website and select the appropriate license type when installing the program.
I don't think H16 will be any different.

Re: Houdini 16

No need for apologizing, no offense was taken. I agree somewhat with what you're saying. "somewhat" because I agree with the principle that you think it describes what's happening. That is, a ship with too many captains. Or an army with too many generals and too few soldiers - in this case...

@Mathaeus There's was no one being persecuted (I'm assuming that's what you mean by "tortured") in that thread. I'll grant you that there were a few naysayers and still are, they're everywhere, but in general one should expect opposition, both for good and bad reasons, when trying to chang...
